Here at Riddle they automatically throw you into the dispatch program if you take AS221 or WX201 (both of which I'm in) which are some prerequisites to the Dispatch deal from what I understand. They tell you you can drop it or pursue it, and I'm actually thinking about pursuing it as a "backup plan" since I'm going for the cockpit. I don't really know anything about it. How intense is it compared to a flight rating? |

I would say that it is well worth your time. It is a great back up plan, it will also make you a better pilot, greater understanding of aircraft and the ATC structure.

If you have the time, go for it! I did my dispatch course at FS and its not hard, basic flight planning, wx, weight and balance. If you're already a pilot (or in process), it should be fairly easy. I got my first airline job as a ops controller because I have my dispatch cert. It'll give a great boost to your resume! |
