| Basically it's complete chaos. There are 200+ students sharing 10 duchess and about 8 cessnas and most of the time over half are down. You have students here who were told it will take 3 months to finish a commercial and in 4 months they haven't finished their ppl. Only getting 2-3 flights a week is pretty normal around here even for a motivated student. | They make unrealistic promises to prospective students. If you call them they will tell you 3-4 months for the whole program or tell you about the one guy who managed it in 3 months. They also have a recruiter in India who has referred a lot of students. There are a few guys here who got scheduling priority somehow and can bump other students from their flights. | OK guys, Here is the situation at Ariben: I came here about a week ago, got treated with a lot of respect. Everyone from the very beginning was so helpful, all the way from Mike, Angela and Ari. Even though the school was having bad times in terms of maintenance, during my first 2 days I got to fly five times! Someone said that instructors have 8-9 students…. I was the ONLY ONE with my instructor that gave me his full attention and did about 5 hours of ground with me, without getting paid for it. No matter how many airplanes are down, or how busy it is-my instructor and Ari are doing their best to have me fly each and every day. Yes, airplanes are old. Their airplanes are flying 24/7. You have to be here and see it with your own eyes. Airplanes will go down and it does happen with every school. (Trust me…. Even at Delta Connection Academy I had more cancelled flights than I had here, and even worse-I was forced to fly with really bad old and crappy airplanes that were NOT maintained even close to what our airplanes here, at Ariben). If you are looking for good customer service, good instruction, good learning experience and the hours that we all need on the Multi, based on my experience, I would deeply recommend Ariben Aviator Inc. at Fort Pierce for each one of you. |

| No Nick, I told the truth. I am there to study and that's what I am doing. I have no reason to complain at all. I know things will be getting much better there in the very near future. |

| I only suspect because you've posted a bunch of generally negative stuff about how hard it is to get an airplane, and now your posting nothing but praise. We all know how the school works! And, of course, the idea of Mike being friendly and helpful (Or 7 working airplanes) is pretty amusing! As ever, I'm glad it works when it works! |

And... your second message is in New Times Roman font not the normal font on jetcareers. It was obviously composed on Word or something like that. Not that that means anything. I do that every now and then when I'm typing a long letter. But even I think it's a little weird and I usually don't have anything to do with these silly fights between the people who think it's the worst place out there and the people who think it's the best place in the world. Any logical thinking person knows it fits somewhere in between. I'll stop dorking out on the computer and go to bed now. Everyone...... fight!!! lol | ||

| I don't care what school you go to, but that is a major problem right there. Sad. |

Thing about it my question was valid, because I'm trying to get into the school and this knucklehead is already there. Ami have you been persuaded to post here? To possibly shift focus from legitimate threads.

| No... I wasn't. I didn't say that problems don't exist... I did say that any flight schools has the bad things and the good things.... I am here to study and get the best I can. Instead of complaining I look over the bright side of things... I am getting to fly everyday, I am getting the ground instrction that I need, and I AM getting reated with lots of respect from the school officials. |

| until this place gets some new planes I would stay away. I looked on the bright side of things too until I flew 2 times in 2 months. I know someone who went home for 3 weeks because he wasn't able to fly. I think the instructor thing will be changing soon everywhere. The house and senate already passed a bill that changes the retiring age to 65 so just the Pres has to sign it now. After that goes through the Hiring rate will really slow down, 5 pilots in the US retire every day, thats 1825 a year. That means 1825 less pilots will be getting hired out of these schools each year for the next 5 years. Times are changing. |

| 1) Where do get your statistics? b) Do you really think each and everyone of them will fly until 65? It might slow down a little, but not that much IMHO. |

| This is a quote from where I got it, but it was all over the news. "U.S. lawmakers who backed the higher retirement age wanted to speed up the change to prevent more pilots from retiring. An average of five per day reached the age-60 retirement age, according to the Air Transport Association airline trade group." I think 3 out of 5 will stay if not more and if you don't think that is going to slow down the hiring rate then you are crazy. The majors will be pulling less people up from the regionals so the regionals will be pulling less people up from the schools which means there are going to be a lot more instructors. Things like this all roll downhill. Hiring times could go right back up to 1500 and an ATP again over the next year. |

| from ALPA: White House Signs Age 65 into Law Bill includes ALPA Executive Board Recommendations In the late evening of December 13, President Bush signed into law a bill to raise the mandatory retirement age for U.S. pilots to 65. Days before, both the U.S. Senate and U.S. House of Representatives unanimously approved H.R.4343. (To read Age 65: How it Works, please click here.) “ALPA appreciates President Bush for swiftly signing this piece of legislation into law. With the inclusion of ALPA’s recommendations, it will protect the piloting profession in the face of a change that was certain to come, given the harmonization with the International Civil Aviation Organization standard,” Capt. John Prater said. “I am pleased to report to our members that, pursuant to the decision by ALPA’s Executive Board to change ALPA’s policy on Age 60 in the face of legislation to change the mandatory retirement age that was rapidly moving through Congress, your union’s leaders exerted extensive influence on the legislation that is now law. The bill’s language to raise the upper age limit for airline pilots to 65 is consistent with ALPA’s Executive Board resolution and directive adopted on May 23. It represents months of hard work, both from fellow pilots and our government affairs department, which produced a tangible result.”
