Howdy, I was foraging around the net looking at FBOs for commercial training and came across this school. The prices seem very reasonable and include quite a bit of multi-time. Has anyone gone through any of their programs? What's the scoop on this place? BugSmasher

Excellent. Very Cozy mom and pop style. Did my Multi-VFR, Multi IFR, Multi Commercial back in 2004. Herb(owner) will do your training in the most efficient manner. Would love to go back one day for a rating or 2. Maybe ATP.

Thanks for your reply! I figured no one else on JC knew anything about PAS. It certainly seems like a good deal, and a "total avaiation immersion" type of setting. Are there any CFIs there besides Herb? Hows the availability there? Did you do your wrtten tests before you arrived? Sorry for the questions.. Kind regards, Luka

Call and talk to them...Very nice guy - Herb and very honest. You can PM me you email. I'll send you their flight training info packet if you want. Sometimes Herb is busy w/ students and can't talk. I'm visiting the place in September. Good luck, LAFF |

he's a cool Austrian dude. he's got one other biker/Harley type instructor who does single engine stuff and sim stuff. His prices on the website are not current, so you gotta get the current numbers from him directly. Of course they are higher than listed, because fuel is more than it was when he made that site. It's still a damn good deal if you can get a training slot. That plane is huge and ugly but he takes care of it. Plus it has a critical engine, so it's a "true" twin. Last time I spoke with him (May) he was backed up until November due to some weather and his month-long June vacation. Not sure if that's current though. Housing seems good (you're in the same house with him and his family, or in a nice new motorhome out front). I believe they had 2 exchange students, and a couple of guys from Europe training when I was there. Add in the biker instructor, the Austrian owner (Herb), the Apache parked in a garage attached to the house, an above-ground pool, rural Kansas near Wichita, and you've got a pretty damned interesting environment. He seems to have a really nice family. My only thing about it was I like to drink and bring girls home, and I'm not sure if I would/could do that if I'm living in someone else's house. Somtimes people post for roomies on Wichita craigslist, so that's an option. Keep in mind those prices include pretty much as much sim time as you can use towards your IR. Although, use of the iGate sim will get you into the Multi quicker, which is good, b/c you can get the procedures down. All the time is built with him in the back seat for insurance purposes and another guy sharing the cost. |
