A family friend of mine did their 100hr multi program about 3 years ago and got it done in around 15 days I believe. Him and his time building partner flew just about 7 hours every single day for 15 days straight. They pretty much lived, slept and breathed duchess while they were there but they were in and out in a hurry.

When I was at Aviator I lived with a guy who did 200 hours in 13 days. Rediculous.

Talahasee and back (4.5hrs) in the early hours of the morning every day was pretty tough going......but some guys would do TLH and then head back out to Key West or even Talahasee again. 9 hours flying! Not for me. If you want to get get done fast with your time building the Christmas period is a good time to come as it should be quiet and you'll get planes easy.

"Yeah well that's nothing"! When I was attending the Aviator, I completed the 100 hour timebuilding phase in just under 2 days. "Actual" and "Night" the entire time. We actually did air-to-air refueling with old "47W". Not with a cool re-fueling nozzle but with a 5 gallon bucket of gas. We were also actually flying 2 planes at once... We also were able to do laundry and cook meals in the back of the plane while flying. Sorry, bored in the crewroom tonite! Seriously though, make sure to keep it safe... after a while you tend to get sleepy and, ironically, so doesn't the guy sitting next to you! |

What about trips over to the Bahamas? Any flights made over there? Any benefits to having an international flight or two under your belt?

Days at Express really vary... you could do just one leg where you show up at 2pm and you're checking in to the hotel at 5pm. Or you could do the max 15.5 hours of duty with close to 8 hours of flying. My last trip: 1st day: 7 hours flying, duty 12hrs 2nd Day: 3 hours flying, duty 6.5 3rd day: 3 hours flying, duty 6 4th day 7 hours flying, duty 11 Second day was Thanksgiving with a 24 hour overnight. They def keep us busy at Express. So Cindy cut your hairs?! She's really cool, she cuts a lot of "Aviators" hairs! Manolo... the milkshakes are still in erica's car!! I'll be in Houston tuesday or wednesday. |

I am planning on attending aviator in Jan and am definately wondering about taking the plane down to the Caribbean. Do you need a radio ops license and where would you get one?

| Senior Member | Not sure if you need the FCC license, you get it from the FCC website though and it's good for life. So I'd say just pony up the fifty bucks and get it. Have fun trying to figure out where it is in the website though. I had a cheat sheet that showed me exactly what to click on and I still can't tell you how I did it.

Unfortunately, it really is just a scam to make more money by the government. Nothing required to obtain.....other than money, of course. This should help! click here! | |

Comments from others indicate it is a requirement. If we'll now be required to have passports come 2007, I'd ensure ALL my documentation is available should it be requested.

I thought the airlines dont like to see a bunch of safety pilot time. I know a guy who had over 100 hours safety pilot and the airline didnt even look at it for his total time..

I know someone who was trying to get a job with Linear Air and they wouldnt count his safety pilot time for the ME time requirement. This guy was pissed, thought he paid for 100 hours of multi at ari-ben so that should count for 100 hours, upon scouring his logbook they decided he needed another 50 hours.

That sucks Linear Air is one of the companies I would like to work for as a first job. I only have 35 hours of safety pilot time hopefully people won't look down on that too much.

90% of airlines are okay with the safety pilot thing. Eagle probably isn't the place to go right now anyway. Total time and multi time are just boxes that need to be ticked to get an interview.

"90% of airlines are okay with the safety pilot thing. Eagle probably isn't the place to go right now anyway" Skywest doesn't accept it towards their mins, either. |
