Default Can Anyone Confirm?

Can anyone confirm that Westwind Aviation at Deer Valley is going out of busines?

Student of mine heard it from a ex-management person the other day.

It doesn't take a genious to go walk around the place and see the ghosttown to tell they aren't doing well. You never hear them in the practice area much either. There is a hole in the ship taking on water. You sleep in the bed you make I guess.

Haha... how often do you find yourself walking the halls of Westwind? Must be on a pretty regular basis if you are going to fourm such an opinion. And how many calls signs of Westwind do you know? They don't have call signs westwind123 like pan am. They just have cessna call signs. Sounds like you are just trying to drag westwind down for no reason, get a life and your facts straight before talking trash.

Perhaps they can sell me some airplanes so I can jumpstart my own flight school!

C'mon, newbie! I thought we went over all of this in that 7 page thread. Westwind is a sinking ship- and you're holding on to the mast as it goes down!

No, he brings nothing to the site, all of his posts have been nothing but name calling and yelling about WW.

Since I trained and worked there at one point I know most of the callsigns but not all. So who is the idiot? You need to get your facts straight before you call people out, I have been there on weekends to study and take written tests and place was empty. I worked with a guy who went there who could confirm it. Even talked to old friends who are cfi's there and guess what they say the same thing. I don't know why you insist on being blind and not seeing the truth. You sleep in the bed you make and they are doing it and the proof is in the pudding.

Is telling the truth and my experience talking trash? Well you are in for a long road in life if you can't learn to cope with people's experiences and opinions even if they disagree with your opinion. What about your name? NewbieAirlinePilot? stuck on yourself a little huh?

way to quote the same thing twice. and what exactly is it that you bring to the table? all this thred was stating was could anyone confirm, and i was just replying that all that topic was is rumor by haters. what is your problem with that? all you do is then change the subject to be about how much you hate westwind. i don't really care about how much you like westwind, all im stating is they are still open, and not going out of businuess anytime soon.

also, why are you going to westwind on the weekends to study for tests if you go to another flight school? judging the amout of students on a weekend is never really a good ruler because most students are monday to friday.

all i know is that when i left, instructors weren't able to keep up with the amount of students they had. they were actually thinking about hiring some outside instructors (not trained from westwind) because they had so many students and not enough instructors to keep up with the demand. they are all getting hired on with regionals, don't know if that means anything to all the haters out there. but instructors leaving early to go to regionals must not be all that bad of a situation at westwind... think about it... (i know sometimes its hard for you westwind drop outs/haters)

Again I have never said they were closing, but I do know that they are not doing all that hot as I know CFI's that work there and students that go there that CONFIRM they aren't doing too well. Look at how the building keeps getting smaller for the flight training, briefing rooms are all rented out where they used to be and now jammed in the computer room. Whats your EXCUSE for that?

All I am trying to do is give people my experience during my flight training, and give HONEST advice on how I would redo my flight training and save thousands of dollars. I know at least 20 ex-westwind students/CFI's that would agree with me, you are out numbered by a lot here buddy.

With as much money as I spent, I can go back there and use there computers to do practice tests. It doesn't matter if I like the place or not. I have been there during the week and weekend for a month or so and saw how dead the place was to how it used to be. Did I ever say I went to another flight school, what makes you think that? We talked several pages on another thread about my and others experiences and it was clearly obvious we were there long before you were. Do you think I have been going to flight school for 5 years considering with all the hiring going on now? Just because I'm not a moron calling myself NewbieAirlinepilot doesn't mean I don't work for an airline.

This is what is funny, all the pro westwind guys who were screwed by westwind but too arrogant to admit it think westwind is the best and only flight school/FBO in the country that airlines hire. In-fact westwind sells that along with the guaranteed job to brainwash the students and get 80,000 dollars from them. Let me ask you a question, Do you HONESTLY think airlines care where you did flight training? In fact I had a chief pilot of a airline ask me, Why does it cost so much to go to Westwind? What is so special since you don't even get a 4 year degree and you spend 80-100,000 dollars?

You told me to get my facts straight before giving an honest opinion, but what did I say that wasn't true? Quote it and make me eat crow.

I was in there last week and the place was very busy. I think they have recently started some classes. Saw a full groundschool, the computer lab was busy, as was downstairs. Could be getting busier over there, who knows? Didn't look like they were slow, though.

I dont get you choppie, why are you still going to westwind? are you trying to studying for an upcoming test? you already said you aren't going to another flight school... so whats the deal? why do you want to use westwind's facilities, is it because they are so nice? i don't think westwind is the only flight school you can go to, there are alot of cheaper flight schools out there to attend, however cheaper isn't always better. just as expensive isn't always better. it just depends on the flight school. for me, i spend 52K on ALL of my ratings including all CFI's. and the quality of the training i recieved was great. you are right on one thing, airlines don't care what flight school you attend, however that is probably the only thing you are correct about. instead airlines care about the quality of training you recieve, it really shows in the interview, and it really shows while you are out there flying the line. if i were telling someone who's looking for a flight school to attend some advice, don't just pick the cheapest school. do some research about the quality of training and then compare it to the price. in my opinion the quality of training for the price can't be beat. you can go to riddle and pay 150K and not get 1/2 the education you get from westwind (that may be a stretch, well maybe not 9/10 the education from riddle).

i don't know why it cost you so much to go to westwind, its probably because you couldn't keep up with the standards. i know while i was an instructor there i did have to have some students repeat lessons, however i didn't like to do that at all. in fact i would try to play catch up on the next lesson just to avoid it. so if you had to repeat alot of lessons and went over budget, it was probably because you couldn't cut it as a pilot (at least to westwind standards)
