A degree and cost. Majors are looking for degrees while Regionals aren't right now (in general, I know there are exceptions!). Also time, 4 years at a University, maybe 2 at an Academy.

I wouldn't think of 'flight training' as education -- more like a trade.

The top jobs in the US require or prefer ("prefer" means that if it's a competitive position, you'd better have it or don't waste time applying) ANY four year college degree.

All flying jobs require flight training.

I do NOT suggest putting "all the eggs in one basket" - get a non-aviation four year degree and train after college.

. . .which begs a question. Does regionals provide tuition assistance for going to school? When you talk about benefits airlines offer, is the cost of schooling included?
