Im looking for a good FBO at Van Nuys or Whiteman airport. Has anyone flown with any specific companies at these locations? ive looked at every FBO at both airports but was hoping for some first-hand accounts. Thanks

I started at Hollywood Aviators at VNY. I dug the place, it's part 61 free lance instruction if that's what you're looking for. I think they have a couple sims too for your inst ticket. I like VNY more than WHP though, because you got to see the jets!

I flew at Vista Air, Inc. at KWHP at the beginning of this year before I ran out of money. It is Part 61 with pretty low rates. They have some pretty nice planes as well. http://www.vistaair.com/index.html Jtsastre |

I got my private at Vista, WHP. Prices were the best at the time (2001) never had a problem there. I think you will get more for your money at WHP because it is not a very busy airport. What city do you live in?

I paid my instructor $40/hr. But at VNY you get to see jets! Hahaha, that and you get to see SWA come overhead while in the pattern to BUR.

Wow Vista's rates are pretty good! Just hop the freeway or whatever and fly at VNY during pattern stuff so you can build the 500hr x/c also and see jets.

[quote=boeing 777-300]Newhall. In Santa Clarita. About 15 miles north of KVNY. Crazy. I live in Canyon Country of Santa Clarita. If I can get some money together maybe we'll be flying together if you choose to go to KWHP. Jtsastre |

I live in Valencia myself. When the I-5 gets congested you can take San Fernando road all the way to WHP.

Anyway, back to topic. Vista is $87 for a 172 and $26 for instructers (i hope they see every penny of that $26) I didnt see anthing about multi engine planes though. I found one called Sun Quest. They are at both WHP and VNY. I can get a 152 for $75 and an instructor for $25. Jeez. $25 and $26 dollars for instruciton. Isnt that a little low?
