I have read a few threads about VA funding. Someone was even so kind as to explain how it works. It sounds an awful lot like the GI Bill checks I got in college. I used all of my GI Bill to get through college. Is that what funds this VA Program too? I mean gosh, it would be awesome to only pay $20k at the end, but nothing is ever that good for me!

Hey, if you used all of your benefits then thats it . I just caught on to that am am going to use what I have left to pay for some of the training but it's not nearly what it could have been. I'd ask the VA to see if you have any left at all though, it never hurts. Otherwise you'll have to find a different source. Hope this helps

Some states have their own VA benefits. What state are you from? For those from Texas, once you use all of your GI Bill benefits you can apply under the Hazelwood Act. It is a state benefit for current residents of the state of Texas who were also residents when they went in. It is an exemption from paying certain tuition and "fees" for up to 150 attempted credit hours. I say "fees" because aviation colleges like the one I went to, San Jacinto College, has a flight program set up were you pay the college a "flight FEE" and fly through a local contract flight school. It won't pay for your PPL, but after that as long as you don't fly over the course syllabus you can get up through your MEI for FREE. www.sjcd.edu |
