Question Flown into NYC area?

Planning a flight next month into the NYC area. Was looking at flying into Teterboro, NJ. Looked up comments on AirNav about it and there were mixed reviews. I want to land as close to the city as possible - but then again I don't want to be overwhelmed with fees and traffic. Any experienced NYC flyers on the board with some advice?

Do you plan on driving into NYC after landing, if so KFRG is a long ways from Manhattan. At least an hour or so and thats without traffic. Although it is cheap to fly there it's not very convenient. TEB will put you right across the river from Manhattan where there is Public Transportation (the path train) which will take you righ there). KFRG is close to the Long Island rail road which also takes you into manhattan and I believe Long Island Jet Center ( the FBO) out there offers a free shuttle to the train station. Make sure when you fly in you check out the VFR corridor. It'll take you over the verrazano right next to the statue of liberty all the way up manhattan. Just study your charts carefully before attempting if you are unfamilair with the area.

Wait a minute Rabbi:
He says he is going to NYC. You being a Rabbi from Brooklyn you must know that Brooklyn is a part of NYC, just like Queens, Manhattan, the Bronx, and Staten Island. We musn't assume NYC is just Manhattan. Leaving Farmingdale without traffic take Rte 110 north to LIE west and you will be in NYC border(Queens) in 30 minutes. You will be at midtown tunnel(takes you into Manhattan) in less than one hour.
Currently I live in Manhattan but Brooklyn born-Queens raised. Gotta give respect to all the boroughs!

To the best of my knowledge, I'll be staying in Manhatten and visiting Brooklyn.

Brooklyn...uchhh theres nothing to do here unless you have family... True Queens,Brooklyn,Da boogie down and staten island (where I'm originally from) is all part of NYC it just does'nt have as much to offer as the other boroughs
