Default Just have a few general questions about ari ben

If anyone can help i would greatly appreciate it. Is this school worth the time and money that i would put into it. For building multi time and gettting instructor ratings? Is the Safety rating at ari ben respectable. From what i have found it seems like everyone avoids the safety question and says "as far as i know it is good" I need straight answers. I plan on visiting the school and hopefully will make my decision by then. Also how does the paying options usually go do they want all the money at once because i dont know if i trust any school that way. Ill be coming from far away for this school and changing my life pretty dramatically to accomplish this goal i have had for years. I am currently at 55 hours and would like to finish the school in 6-8 months if possible. I would like realistic answers and if anyone can help i would greatly appreciate it.

1. I have been at this school for eight months. The planes are good to fly. I've soloed the Duchess for 55 hours (48 night IFR x-country), if I didn't think the planes were safe, I wouldn't have done it and either would 2 other students I know who have done the same (soloing 55hrs). Of course, you will have the usual maintenance problems (taxi light burnt out, radio problems, low tire pressure, low strut pressure, etc.). I hope thats straight enough.

2. Just pay as you go along. No need to drop 35k before you enroll. If you fly over what you paid for, TJ is going to put you on the no fly list. So you really have to keep track what you gave to the school.

"Ill be coming from far away for this school and changing my life pretty dramatically to accomplish this goal i have had for years."

Thats pretty much everyone here at the school. Good luck!!

I'll be coming from 1.5 miles east of the pacific, but we mine-as-well get used to living wherever(at least for awhile), since we are choosing aviation!

Far is far away from far! Now trying saying that five times as fast as possible.

Seriously, we have students here that are from Hawaii, Guam, England, Hungary, Italy, India, Iceland, Netherlands, Australia, Germany and Mongolia.

Default I heard of a safety issue with a student back in Oct

I heard and read the ntsb report of a student crashing and fatally injuring himself and he was a student at ari ben school. i dont know if it was pilot error or mechanical. But it is a little concerning. Any input would be nice. So thats is why i am concerned on the safety aspect of the school.

From the preliminary report it appears to be pilot error IMO. Upwind with 30 degrees of flaps, stalled and spun. Very sad, but most accidents are pilot error.

Is it worth it? Yup! there is no better deal you will find out there. Can you do it in that time frame? Yup as well. the trick to pulling it off in that time frame is to treat this school like a full time job. Invest 8 hours a day on flying and STUDYING and you can take the weekends off and will pull the course off in your timeframe.

As far as the cessna accident, well, that had nothing to do directly with the Aviator, that plane was leased out by EFT and the pilot was not trained by aviator instructors. It was a tragic accident and I hated hearing about it but in the end I am guessing it will be written up as pilot error.

8 hours a day, you'll go nuts.

If you want to get the program done in 3 months...work to get it done in 2 months, there will be delays regardless. Not the school's fault. A 141 program is just too difficult to breeze through. There's so much to do.

Is the MEI difficult to breeze through, Brett? Is there also so much to do, Brett?

8 months? Like I said earlier if you work it for 8 hours a day and even take the weekends of you can get it done no problem in that time.

Will you go nuts? I am not sure why you woudl go nuts working that kind of pace. Most if not all the students I have seen come though the course did not have a job while they were going through the course. If you can't put in an 8 hour day and have your weekends off you may want to look at another career, like maybe being a door greeter at walmart part time.

There is 24 hours in a day, you may sleep for 8 so that leaves 16, you invest 8 more hours out of that day on flying and studying and that leaves you another 8 hours, not to mention you still have your weekends free. If you truly work that kind of pace you will have no problem getting the program done in a respectible time. The key to doing on time is to keep your head in the books and don't fall into the trap of thinking just because you finished one rating your done studying. If you train from day one like you are going to take your MEI and not a multi private you will be way ahead of the game.

Thats the biggest mistake I have seen people make and what cost them alot of time. They dont keep there head in the books and when it comes time for the instructor ratings they get overwhelmed because they did not believe they needed that depth of knowledge for an MEI ride.

Anyway good luck and if you take my advice you will have no problems whatsoever getting everything done in that time frame.

Nah I am not applying that to you as far as being a door greeter lol. I will apply that to anyone who cant handle an 8 hour day though.

I apllied at walmart last week to be a test pilot for the airplane ride that sits out front of the buidling I think it costs like a nickel a ride or something like that. I am hoping I can get some actual logged if a bunch of smokers come by.

I am also going to by a bunch of baloons and some helium, get my lighter than air rating and sit in the back yard let the balloons take me up about 6 inches and log about 8 hours a day while watching movies

Galil, if you want to start arguements on here do what I do. Start them in the lavatory.

You can do it in 8 months, you can do it in 6 months. Personally it took me 12 months. I took off probably a week every month or so to see my girlfriend in Connecticut. Along with that, the MEI rating is very hard. Don't let anyone tell you differently. While I was going through I was pissed off about how long it took me. Now that I'm done though it doesn't really seem like that long.

Just keep your head in the books and you'll be done in no time at all. Be careful of time frames though, they can serve to cause a lot of frustration. It's always better to take longer and understand something than it is to rush through with just basic knowledge. Good luck and I hope you choose the Aviatior. I think it's the best bang for the buck.
