Hello all, To those who are currently instructors for Ari-Ben or for those who attend, how much is the instructor pay? Also, what are the chances that when you become an instructor that you will get some multi time? Also, does anyone know where the housing is? I was in Vero Beach today and stopped by the office (no one was there) and was looking around the airport for the housing and I didn't see a thing around there. I saw nothing but a bare road and an airport with a lot of air traffic. Lol. Thanks to all who reply. |

Instructor pay is $15 per hour. They don't pay the intructors for ground, wich I think is bullsh#t. From what I have seen, most of the students at Ari Ben are working on some sort of multi rating. You would have no problem getting multi students. They seem to have more instructors than students right now. I think you would be better off finding a place to work where you could fly at least 80 hrs a month. I always see CFI jobs on climbto350.com. Many pay 15 per hour and up. If you are flexible about where you are willing to work, there are alot of great places to instruct. Ari Ben has housing on the airport right by the customs building. There are apartments there that used to belong to Pan Am. They also have a bunch of houses in Vero. I only stayed in the apartments on the airport, so I can't tell you anything about the houses in Vero. Ari Ben is a great place to do timebuilding and get your ratings. I would probably look somewhere else to instruct though. |

Let's clarify that a little. ProCourse students: $15/hour FLIGHT TIME ONLY (no ground or pre/post flight briefing pay) All other students: $10/hour (Part 61 including non-ProCourse students, 5-hour Duchess checkouts, mx test flights, other odd jobs) In the rare event that you get to teach a GI Bill guy in the ProCourse, you get paid for some ground instruction. My advice: Get you Instructor ratings where you plan to teach, and my recommendation would follow along the lines of Toonces. |

chances of getting multi time.... 100%. I left aviator as an instructor with 1000tt and over 800multi. I only had 3 single privates (only 1 was from zero time, the other two knew what they were doing and I just had to get them ready for the checkride). I never did any instructor ratings, cause I dont like those kind of students, unless they were my own. There is a chance to fly alot.... but, you have to dedicate yourself to a motivated student. Motivated student = decent paycheck and lots of hours fast. If you show the owner that you can get the job done and keep the student happy, he'll give you more students than the other less dedicated instructors. So, in summary, its all on you. Oh, and if you want to earn some extra money on the side.... you can help out MX, fuel the planes ($10/hr i believe), or do what I did, pickups and drop offs at the airport. My average paycheck at times was around $800 (every two weeks). P/u and D/o are the way to go. |
