There's a school in MN where you can get your instrument rating in 7 to 10 days for just under 6,000 bucks. The first 20 hours are in the simulator and the last 20 are in a Warrior, or arrow for a little more money. You are assigned one instrutor, who is with you (one on one) for eight hours a day. You can get your multi add on for about 2 grand extra. Housing and crew car are included in the program too! I flew through my instrument program at my school as fast as I could, and it still took me over a month, and I paid 11,500 for the program, and 450 for housing. I sure wish I had known about this deal up north. I found them online, and the person I talked to said that the website was still being worked on, but here's the link... www.onhiswingsflightacademy.com You can PM me, or email the school at ohw@rea-alp.com. The reason I posted this is because I personally would have done this program if I had known about it, and I want all you other aspiring professional pilots to not miss out on quality instrument training that's quicker and more affordable than anywhere else. |

Here is what mine is costing me. INSTRUMENT 80 hours C172 - $5,600 25 hours instrument instruction - $ 750 40 hours ground instruction - $ 600 Written - $80 Maneuvers book - $20 Text book - $100.00 Total cost - $7,672 Package cost - $7,250 tax included (unlimited flight/ground instruction) Bottom line is most important. I get unlimited instruction and 80hrs in the Aircraft for $7250, along with all my books and materials. There are deals to be found, you just have to dig for them. This is including some time building as well, to meet the hrs requirement for Instrument rating

that looks like a very good deal too. for that price at this place in MN (adding 1,600 bucks to their cost) you would probably get 30 less hours or so (40 or 50 instead of 80), but you'd get the rating much quicker (I don't know how long your program takes, but I'm sure it's considerably longer than 10 days). the MN school also gives unlimited ground and simulator training, along with free boarding and crew car. both sound like great programs, it just depends if you'd rather have 30 more cessna 172 hours at your school, but take 2 or 3 months, or if you'd rather have 30 less hours, and get your rating in 10 days. i personally would go with the quicker one, but both programs look like quality training (as both really emphasize ground instruction) for a great price! what's the name of the place you're going?

i actually have no affiliation with the school, although i do hope i can instruct there after i finish my instructor ratings, because i think that it's a great deal. the reason i posted another one is because a moderator took my other posts off. he said that they were too "advertisee", which i understand. actually if i get a job there, i will push really hard to get PAID advertising on here, because i think this is a great, objective forum on aviation! sorry if you saw the other posts too...they got taken off like 30 minutes after posting so that's why i mentioned the school again on here (tried to make it less of an "ad" feel.)don't you think that it's a pretty sweet deal though? completely honestly, i'm curious if i'm over-hyped on this place. let me know your thoughts? |

"Guys, this program is at the airport within walking distance of my house. Do there courses look okay for me to begin" I looked at the website and it seems like a decent place. Do you have the money saved up? |

No I dont have any money saved, Just trying to get by at the moment. Would have to take out a student loan. Or something. All i know is that if I had to save up for my training first It would take 10 years to get it all done. (at least)

Like I said you have to dig for a good deal that is right for you. I prefer to get all my training in an actual aircraft as opposed to a simulator, but that is just me. I train at a local FBO about 30 miles from my house, so that was also important. They are however trying to get everything together and go part 141. Hook up with the local College etc. Give it about 6 months I am guessing and they will be doing a more regimented training. I also hope to CFI after my ratings. For now though I am concentrating on the training.

To quote from their web site. "Dennis is a firm believer in Biblical principles, and employs them to correlate to aviation principles" I understand puting your faith in a higher power when you're in hard IFR, I just always figured that power was the engineers at Honeywell and Garmin, along with ATC. Another draw back is it would be that much harder to know if there was a problem. With most instructors if he shouts out "Jesus Christ" in the middle of a lesson that's a pretty good sign you made a mistake. |

$4,495.00 -Aircraft rental is not included in tuition. Is this normal? Is it still going to be a good deal do you think? Thanks
