Default Collier Airport KTNT

I just got off the phone will Collier Airport to see about getting a permit to do some training there. They informed me that the schools plane I plan on flying must be issued a free permit from them. Does anybody know if the school has a permit. Does anybody know if Mike would be open to getting a permit if a student does all the legwork.

Gonzo, What type of permit are you talking about? Did you want to take one of Aviators planes to Collier Airport and do your training out of there?

You need a permit (it's free) just to land there. I thought it would be cool sometime during my training to make one or two flights there. The more I read about the airport it just seems cool and something I would like to be able to tell people I've done.

nothing really to see there, except maybe a few gators and an overgrown taxiway. It honestly isnt worth the trouble, the airport is in the middle of no where.

I was under the impression that when it is not underwater like it is now the airport was properly maintained. The way I understood it all approaches are fully functional and are working as well.

im sure all nav-aids work, but making any extra leg work to fly in there is a waste of time, its an airport with nothing around and nothing to see.

I was also under the impression it's not that rare to see military birds in the pattern.

i've been there 3 times, was always the only bird around. landed once and taxied back and there was a clapped out dodge pickup. other than that no other birds. its possible they do some training in there.

Flew over it timebuilding, there is nothing there. Not worth the trouble, no one has ever heard of it. Seriously, don't waste your time. And at $200/hour, just shoot approaches at VRB and F45.
