For fun I got an estimate from Pan Am today for starting there after having a commercial ticket. First it was $21,613. I was a little sticker shocked, then he started to talk about the CRM and ACE program at the end of the CFI training. So I asked if theoretically I choose to perhaps not take the option of CRM and ACE programs (in my mind, "choosing the option to have money left for food and shelter while waiting to get hired"), the estimate came in at $11,195. Not so bad considering it includes the multi rating and is an expensive academy (I wasn't expecting an FBO price). He also seemed very non-BS and giving me information about the CRM and ACE programs (including that two regionals recognize the training and lower their minimums for graduates), but not implying that they are a must have and respecting my decision to not take that option. I may be flying to Phoenix for a cross country anwyay so I will probably check them out if do. Geographically they are convenient... if only Ari-Ben, Skymates, or Falcon were in AZ or CA deciding on a school would be so much easier. |

Did he give you any idea about time to complete the add on / CFI tickets and potential for instructing after completing the training?
