Default Hey Ari guys

I may be coming down to the area to visit family later this year. I will be driving but was wondering if ya'll know of a good place I can get checked out to rent a cessna 172 or the like to take my family members down there up in? Figured you guys would be in the know.

Thanks!

Patrick AFB Aero Club...Shooter. Cherokee for ~$70 wet, 172 for around $65 with just a 1 hour checkout.
Mike rents our 172's for >$95/hour.

PS- Welcome back to the Ari-Ben room. How's your training going?

Can't join an aero club just yet.

$95 an hour is fine for us just to go joyride. I will have to check in with you a bit before we come down.

Training is going slowly. I got really burned out flying all the time that I wasn't working so I have slowed way back. I figure, I don't know that I am going to do this fo a living anyway so whats the rush.

Right now I am just building cross country time. I plan to do an accelerated IFR program somewhere when the time and money is right. Do you know if Ari has an accelerated instrument program?

Wouldn't you have to get checked out in a 172P prior to renting it from Aviator? I couldn't imagine any insurance company letting you rent it off the street.

If I were you, I would call ahead of time before "betting" on being able to rent for just a flat rate of 95.

mike has stopped renting aviator cessnas to anyone other than students as far as i know. (had to turn some away while working dispatch) however there is a place right across the ramp by the tiki but i cant remember the name. supposedly they rent. it would be worth calling aviator though because i think its just a matter of not renting because its so busy so you might be able to talk your way in. then too if your are a former student there (?) that may help.

I was thinking the same thing, just wondering if I should have put it out there. Let's realize that even the Cessna's are flying constantly.
