I was reading over some of the old Pan-Am posts and a guy said he had interviewed at a major airline and they would'nt count the multi time he had used as a safety pilot. If this is how it's going to be the time building in the Duchess is useless. Anybody know more about this?

Before anyone starts in, i'm not saying that having all that experience in the multi is useles, just that if airlines are looking down on it what's the use of doing your instrument and timebuilding in it? It's much more expensive than the C-172.

I posted this in another thread: [ QUOTE ] I had the chance to talk to a captain who does hiring at SkyWest last week (thanks Omar). We started talking about building hours and I asked him about the safety pilot thing. He said it was acceptable to log it, but that they didn't like to see a large number of your hours logged in this manner. The example he gave me was that the current minimum hour requirement is 100 multi, and you have 105, but 50 of those hours are as safety pilot, then thats not so good in their eyes. [/ QUOTE ] It probably varies widely between employers. |

They don't like the safety pilot time filling up your multi engine column. As a result, Pan Am is changing the way we build time in the Seminole. I am not sure how it will all work out. All I know is that the flag has been raised and now we are making a change. |
