Default student loan

I was approved for $25,000...is this enough for me to pack my bags and go to Florida? I'll need housing too...will I survive for the VA pro course?

i don't know anything about the cost of the va course but that doesn't sound like enough money to me. remember that you have to eat and pay rent. and.... there's things that you need that are not included. charts, books, etc etc. I would really do some budget planning before you pack up with only 25k. The Aviator is the least expensive place to get multi time and all your ratings but i know i wouldn't have even come close with only that much.

of course... I like to go out, goof off and spend money as well.

i don't know if that helps. but it's all i know.

anyone out there who took the VA pro course?...can I have a ball park figure of how much you spent...including housing?
Sorry for being a bugger...but if I have to refinance my house I need to know these because I have a family I'm leaving behind.

You could probably find a part time job to work while at Ari.

I went through the VA course. I think the total cost now is around $35,000.... that $19,000 thats on the site is AFTER va benefits. You get your 60% back from the Government.

This is how it works:
1. You get enrolled under Part 141
2. You fly and do ground each month (obviosly, but you have to do this first before you can get reimbursed)
3. At the end of the month, Pierre takes all your invoices and matches them up with whats in your logboook and paperwork.
4. He them fills out a VA form and sends it via snail mail to the VA offices.
5. You then get your money back shortly.... took me 9 months to get the first check.... its different for everyone though.... sometimes 2 weeks, sometimes 2 months. I dont know how the VA is doing now, but it was pretty backed up when i was claiming my training. Pierre did a great job though, in bothering them and getting them to give me my money.

$25,000 is not enough... maybe enough to get you started.
