Any advice for someone planning on the time building program... What to bring, what not to bring. Do they have reasonable prices on charts, approach plates, etc? Housing? Any other things I might need or want to know? Are the instructors cool with giving an ICC or should I get one before getting there? Thanks Hobbit |

[ QUOTE ] What to bring, what not to bring. [/ QUOTE ] bring a car, bed sheets, bath towels, personal bathroom stuff and clothes....thats all you really need. [ QUOTE ] Do they have reasonable prices on charts, approach plates, etc? [/ QUOTE ] The Aviator doesn't have that stuff but there is a pilot shop on the field where you can pick up those things. [ QUOTE ] Housing? [/ QUOTE ] If you go straight into the housing all you will need is what I said above, everything else is already in the houses. If you have to go into an apartment it may be different, I have never been in the apartments. [ QUOTE ] Any other things I might need or want to know? [/ QUOTE ] It's getting hot here, bring shorts and a beach chair ![]() [ QUOTE ] Are the instructors cool with giving an ICC or should I get one before getting there? [/ QUOTE ] What is an ICC? If you mean IPC...I think you might be able to work that into the 5 hour checkout but i'm not sure. |

Good luck with the 100 hour, should you chose it. I will be in Vero on March 15th to begin the Pro Course. |

From my experience, the heaters in only very few of the Duchesses worked; and it can get surprisingly cold in Florida in February, at 6,000 feet, at 3am. Bring some warm clothes to wear for the flights; even though you'll want to wear shorts during the day. Some people that were there when I did the 100 hour program brought a cheap sleeping bag, cut the bottom off, and sat in it in the airplane. Also, have a roll of duct tape with you. If it's cold outside, the heater doesn't work, and the fresh air vent can't be turned off, you'll be glad to have something to stick over the vent. I also brought a little blow-up cushion from EMS - there was at least one Duchess that had only a very thin seat cushion left on it. And that can start to hurt after 6 hours in the airplane. |
