Default Florida Update???

So what is the story w/ the Florida campus? I heard that a bunch of the KAL students and instructors are coming to DVT temporarily. Anyway, I hope everything gets back to normal in Ft. Pierce real soon.

As far as I know the Koreans went back to Livermoore California to continue training, but that may have changed.

As for me, since I have been unemployed since Frances hit back on September 5th, I am working with the Civil Air Patrol. We have been called up to help distribute water, ice and MRE's in Vero Beach. We are working sid by side with the national Guard, except they get paid and we are volunteers. It feels good to help all those people.

I am surprised that the school just doesn't relocate to Phoenix for the time being. It's not like we are over crowded here. 10 KLM students and 3 instructors just started up at DVT today.

On October 2nd we started limited flight training at the FPR campus. Pretty much it's just the Chinese students flying, with 2-3 FAA students flying route. My student passed is instrument check ride on Friday on the first try, so I am feeling pretty good. That is no small feat with these guys. It will probably be the middle of November before things get back to normal at FPR.

Well, it is interesting and good to see that people are not dogging the campus during these rough times. As far as the people in Phoenix, we have sent a few KLM students to DVT to finish up and most of them should be done by mid novemeber. All FPR operations are beginning to return to normal under temporary facilites. The total loss of aircraft was 8 althought 4 of those 8 may be rebuilt. It has been tough on the students and even harder on the instructors. However, due to recent hiring by the airlines the instructor staff is naturally cycling itself. There are also some major management changes happening at the FPR campus. In the end the FPR campus will be functioning much smoother although it may take a few months to get back to the original facilities.

That is good to hear!! Speaking of the KLM guys, I hope that their time at DVT has been productive. It must be challenging to change areas right in the middle of training.

Anyway, I hope the new management works out well in FPR.
