Default What\'s your story?

In an effort to get some positive movement in this forum, I got to thinking about all the different "stories" that everyone must have regarding their path down the "aviation highway."

Here are a few started questions:

1. Who or what has been the most important influence in your aviation career so far?

2. If you could spend time w/ any aviation related person, past or present, who would it be?

3. What has been the biggest challenge for you so far?

4. What has been your most "interesting" experience w/ aviation? Could also be... "your most memorable flight"?

5. What do you hope to be flying someday??

If you have any other questions that you think might be interesting, please share. I find it very inspirational to hear(read) where people have come from, what they have experienced, and where they hope to end up.

Cheers,
LC

Dead heat between my parents, my current wife and the gentleman that gave me my first flying opportunity in a King Air that stressed that the only way forward in the career is by networking. Not magazines, seminars, gimmicks, or anything else. Pound the pavement, meet people, get your telephone number and email address out there and do it YESTERDAY.

My parents helped with financial and emotional support because I was surrounded by an environment where people thought I couldn't do it (jetcareers.com/bio.htm)

Kristie because she stood by a broke CFI and never let me lose faith that I was actually going to make it. Plus she put up with all of the schedule craziness and inability to plan more than a month in advance for anything.

The Rutan Brothers for lunch and Bessie Coleman for dinner. NASA should have considered civilian space flight as a 'shot across the bow', but largely shrugged it off like it didn't happen and poor Bessie got the short end of the historical stick. Lots of stuff about Amelia Earhardt, but Bessie was the real 'mold breaker' on so many more levels.

The difficulty of the job. Being away all of the time, changing time zones and missing 90% of holidays, family events and other social functions gets old. Plus, I can't stand hotels any more and staying in hotels is where I'll spend about half of my life until I'm able to retire.

Probably watching the moonrise over southeast Massachussets on 9/10/01 and thinking that I was on top of the world and there was no stopping me. Damned terrorists

Something hypersonic. Seriously. A 777 is nothing more than a 767, which is nothing more than a prettied up MD-88, which is nothing more than an EFIS Cessna. Maybe if we get off of our scientific asses and also the general public gets off it's butt and realizes that hyperfast global flight is worthy of a premium, we'll see it one day. But as long as NASA's deadset on studying earthworm reproduction in space and the "Average Joe" complains about how it cost him $100 to fly LAX to BOS, but freshly spent $10.75 at Starbucks for water filtered thru coffee beans and a stale frosted scone, I'm afraid aviation is going to remain stagnant technology-wise.

Besides, if I had to fly MD-88s in the southeast for the rest of my career, I'd be looking into law school.

Evolution of aviation isn't a more efficient wing to satisfy the "bean counters" that run airlines, evolution of aviation is going to lead up higher, faster, further and eventually "off world". But you can't tell the pencilneck geek accountants that.
