Default Household utilities and consumer credit

So I just moved into a house with two roommates.

I have the electric in my name, and we still have to get trash.

If I put it in my name (and always pay on time), will that be a boost to my credit?

Basically, do utilities make positive credit statements?

No, they don't show up on your credit, but if they don't get paid and go to collections, it will hurt your credit.
