Default My little Princess

What a day. Day off, going to buy the wife a new vehicle and enjoy the day with the family and no threat of having to work. No problem right. uhh ya. We're in the dealership, I'm signing a ton of paperwork - wife and kids are in the lounge area. My 9 month old daughter is playing on her portable rug, my son is running around and wife is doing whatever wifes do. Just about finished with paperwork when I hear an incredible shriek. I get up and run in there and my wife is holding my screaming daughter and tells me my three year old son accidentally stepped on her while they were playing. My daughter calms down and I touch her leg and she starts screaming again. We decide to take her to the emergency room, screw the paperwork and leave. Get to the hospital and after X-rays, my poor little princess has a small fracture to her leg. I still can't believe it. As tough as us guys are suppose to be, I have to admit I had to wipe away a couple of tears when my wife and daughter came out and my little baby had a cast on. Probably stupid I guess, but my heart sure hurts seeing my princess with a cast on.

That stinks. That thing will probably drive her crazy! Good news is that small kids' bones heal quick. Hopefully the most painful part is over for her.

Not stupid at all... man... I totally feel for you and your little princess. Be prepared... for many more tears down the road. It seems like my tear ducts are always leaking when it comes to my girls. You just want nothing but the best for her... and you always want to be there for her... and protect her. Unfortuantely... you can't always be. But that doesn't stop your heart from just getting bigger and bigger when it comes to your little girl.

Boys... eh... eventually you figure they will fend for themselves and do OK... just like you did growing up.

Glad everyone is OK.

Bob

Not stupid. I got choked up when I came off a trip when my then almost-2 year old son had broken his leg. I got to the hospital, and he was crashed out in a spica cast with a fractured femur.

How scary. My 6 yr old carries my 1 yr old around by the arms all the time and I'm worried about the same thing happening all the time.

Line in our house. "No Gracie, Sophia is NOT a stunt baby!"

Ok it's an attempt at humor but yes, we are always scared. I think every parent is, at all times.

At our house it's the little preemie (2 1/2 years old and not even 20 lbs yet) who beats up on his big brother (a 34 lb 4 year old!). The little guy will walk right up to big brother and smack him upside the head! Then laugh as I scold & punish him and big brother chases him trying to hit him back...... It's the WWE here every night I tell ya...

My kids are 6 and 4, not to mention our 7 month old Greyhound puppy. I am sure you can picture the 3 of them running around like complete jackasses.

Its only a matter of time before the " WHAAAAAAA!!!!!!"

Hey, once you become a parent you check all of that "Tough Guy" stuff at the door.

I feel your pain, I's sure she will be just fine.

Hey Guys,

Thanks for all the kind words. This whole parenting thing is a different kind of love hate relationship. You love your kids like nothing else, and you hate to see them hurt.

Sofia is doing real well, pink cast and all. She's crawling around awkwardly, dragging her leg behind her like a rudder - but still all over the place. It never ceases to amaze me how perfect children are.

Take Care All, and thanks again.

A pink cast! How adorable! I mean, not adorable that she has to be in one, that sucks, but if ya gotta have a cast at least it has style, right?

Oh HELL no!

We are done. Stick-a-fork-in-me done.

My dear mother is so very dissapointed though, she desperately wanted another grandaughter. I told her she's still young, she could have another of her own! She's only 53, older women than that have been in the news as new mothers lately! She didn't think that was nearly as funny as I did......

Oh, it never ends. I believe that I will take the pain and worry of parenthood to my grave. My 23-year old son has a nice titanium ankle from when he was in college.

Super Bowl Sunday - Skycougar is enjoying some bean dip, the phone rings.

Oldest Male Offspring: "Mom, I'm in the emergency room, there's been a little accident."
Skycougar feels her heart drop to the floor, and anxiety has filled her head so quickly that it blows like steam out of her ears .
Son: The guys and I were all drinking beer and watching the game and then decided at halftime to go outside and play a little football. Fat Albert got drunk and fell on my ankle and pulverized it - they're taking me to surgery.

Skycougar just about faints.

Youngest Male Offspring is up at Tahoe skiing : Mom, I'm in the emergency room. I did this jump and made an awesome landing but then hit some frozen snow and down I went. My landing was awesome though, but my leg hurt like hell. I skiied the rest of the way down the mountain. When I got to the bottom, I asked the ski patrol to look at my leg. They took off my boot and the bone was sticking out. I broke my leg, but the cool thing is I skiied down the rest of the mountain and my ski boot held the fracture together!

Skycougar wants to hurl and pass out.

Between football, baseball, snow boarding and skate boarding, several other fractured bones, ambulance rides, and sutures occur over the years.

Skycougar is on first name basis with local orthopedic surgeon and paid for at least one of his kid's college tuition. Skycougar finally gets her own turn last year when she shreds her knee and same orthopedic surgeon operates on her.
