OK...I still consider myself a new parent, but do terrible 2's end at some point? My little boy was our "angel" for the first 23 months, and right on cue, he's turned into...well...a true boy. Love him with my life, but man, he tests and he tests and does pretty much what we don't want him to. He's still our prince, but girls have got to be easier...(until they want to start dating and don't get me thinking about that if I ever have a daughter because I'll get upset)... |

He's tough right now, but these are also the times with the funniest moments because he's learning so much. I can't believe some of the things he says or comes up with. My wife and I look at each other and wonder "where did he learn that"? He unfortunately watches EVERYTHING I do..(I have a bad habit of spitting when I'm outside), so he's now into spitting...fun...fun!

If youve got boys, you NEED to get this book. http://www.dangerousbookforboys.com/ I'm reading it with my 7 year old, and will do the same when the 2 year old grows up a little more. Costco has it for $13.00.

The real annoying part is that he's a perfect angel when others are around, but at home with just mom and dad he cuts lose with all his worst behavior. (He's also developed a "bring it" attitude towards time-outs, which I find very, very maddening.)

Speaking of our little angel, did you know that pen doesn't come off of flat panel monitors? |

Man, reading this post had my wife and I laughing and crying. Laughing because we have a three year old son who is not only testing the boundaries - but many times just totally disregarding them. He is a wonderful boy - but it takes both my wifes will and my will just to have enought to barely overcome his will. But you gotta love them - they're the best gift on the planet. We have a beautiful little 9 month old daughter - and she's the one that scares me. An absolute angel right now - but when she hits her teens - ayy yay yay. Keep the chin up - your son is very normal in a testing kind of way. Max |

![]() He's also testing his boundaries on a near daily basis. He's apparently a little angel at day care, and he turns into Lucifer when he gets home sometimes. Had a screaming, crying, kicking meltdown in the kitchen the other day....

Oh golly. I wish I had some advice other than consistent responses to misbehavior. I've taken to being consistently putting them in their rooms for throwing tantrums, and that seems to really help. The same things (in discipline) don't work for every kid, so you gotta find your kids' "currency". Mine are 2 1/2 and 4. They try my patience to the nth degree every single day. But, for every moment of insanity, there's the moments of their sweet little voices saying "Mommy I love you!", and that more than balances out their evilness sometimes

I wish I could say girls were easier. They might be difficult in a different way...well maybe for me. My gf has a 2 11/12 year-old and she is a handful! She loves to fake cry when she wants her mom after bed time. And now she has started to look at me when mom says "no". Talk about being put on the spot!

We're in the same boat. Around others, he's "So well behaved", "A perfect little gentleman", "So sweet!" At home he turns into a little Eddie Haskle. No! Mine! No! Miiiiiiiiine! (ssscreeeeeeeaaaaam!)

Oh, we've put the nix on Barney. Unfortunately, they read Barney at day care, so he sees him on the screen for a commercial and starts saying "Barneee! Barnee!" That's when we have to go digging through our Disney classics vault. Barney? Nah, F that. We've got Mickey Mouse in black and white! ![]() Stan, I think Gavin says "Miiiiine" more than anything else.

We've tried the holding his hands down while counting for doing something bad...but he now laughs and counts with us, which is cute...which defeats the purpose...

Timeout never really worked for me at first because I would just play with my toys when they made me go to my room. Eventually they caught on and made me sit in a chair in the corner and I hated it! I always received the soap in the mouth for cussing to. Liquid soap was far worse then bar soap too! You couldn't get it out of your mouth very easily and I used to lick my shirt to try and get it out of my mouth. Now that I'm thinking about it, I was a little devil when I was younger. lol

Girls easier? Bwahahaahahahaahaha!!! Mine is now in the terrible twos, except that she is only 18 months. Just ride it out and be consistent, they will eventually learn. Good luck everybody!!!

| They're cracking me up too! If you think you have worries now, wait until they're older. Wait till you have to wonder what is going on whenever you leave town! God knows what I might find when I get back to San Francisco tomorrow night!

I'm serious. This is the most entertaining thread I've read in a long time. I don't have kids but I'll share a story anyways... My neice, Gracie, is 4 1/2 now and we're very close. She LOVES her auntie Pam. So a couple of weeks ago, I was working very very hard on getting the new place together and hadn't seen her in about a week (long time for us) so my mom swung her by as I was finishing up some major painting in the new place with no electricity, which means no air, which means auntie Pam was a mess. I loaded her in the car and drove back to the other apartment so I could shower and change. On the way I hear, "Aunt Pam, you stink." "I know Gracie, aunt Pam's been working hard, but I'm about to get a shower." She holds her nose and says, "Well, I do like this until you done." Kids are so honest... to a fault!

I think Barney would be a tad more tolerable....and MUCH more entertaining ...if he had an edge to him....sort of a Goodfella sort of rap. Example: Farmer Dooley: Why hello, Barney! Is that you??? Barney: No, redneck! I'm freakin' Dino Flintstone. Who the #### do you think it is ya freakin' mook? Farmer Dooley: Well, gee, Barney...sure is good to see you! Barney: Bite me, Dooley, you freakin' MO-ron! Farmer Dooley: And who do you have with you today? Is that Baby Bop & B.J.? Barney: What - are you freakin dumb AND blind, you freakin' dolt! Yeah! It's Baby Bop. Don't be lookin' at my kid that way, ya freakin' Chester! And B.J......that's not a name - it's a job! You freakin' pre-vert! Okay....I'm done. ![]() That felt good.
