Default Pilots, with kids.

When did you guys have your first child?

My wife and I are planning on starting to get pregnant NEXT fall (Fall of 08). At which point, I hope to be an FO somewhere. So, plus the 9 months for the actual pregnancy, I should be a 2nd year FO somewhere by the time the little person comes around.

I'm just wondering when it was some of the pilots here had their first child?

Before you were at a regional? Within the first two years? After the first two years, or after the first 5 years (which upgrade to CA has usually exceeded the 3-4 year point).

Thanks.

I voted after the 5th year, because by the time our first came around he'd actually been flying for 121 carriers for almost 9 years. Not the same 121 carrier, but he had been flying 121 for sometime. He was almost 4 years with DL when baby #1 arrived. We weren't even married until he'd been with DL for almost 3 years

Well, we decided to go off birth control and let it get out of her system (ha!) so we could start trying after I got my CFI ratings. Oops.

When they say it takes a while for birth control pills to get out of a woman's system....THEY LIE. The next month my wife thought she had the flu (see some of the past threads on here). After Amber's suggestion of trying a different pregnancy test brand (the first two were negative), we discovered it wasn't the flu.

Luckily, I was there when my son was born. I had gone to FL to finish training, and things fell apart. I went to look at Skymates, decided that was where I wanted to go, and two days later I was speeding to the hospital. Finished my training at Skymates and instructed there while my wife and infant son were in another state. Not sure if I would do that again if I had it to do over again. I don't see how the people in the military make that work. My hat's off to them.

Funny bit of trivia. Amber and Nessa (my wife) were due on the same date for a while.

I've got one from before and we're starting to work on #2. We decided to try and time it so that by the time #2 came around he's been on 2nd year salary and also would qualify for FMLA so he could be home for a bit.

Kellwolf, I had the same experience when conceiving #1- "Oh, it'll take a while for my system to get going"... 6 weeks later, it was obvious it was working
