| So after dating and being married to short haul Doug, how is it being married to long haul Doug? Does it feel different? Is he gone longer? Does the time change make it more difficult to communicate? Does it feel different that is much further away now? Does he come back in a daze having crossed 16 times zones in 36 hours? Is he away long enough to totally miss US news, and be like 'WHAT' at dinner? Is he sexier now he flies bigger planes? Many women think bigger pay checks and less of them is the thing dreams are made of - is it? |

| Big Chief's Woman | ask me in 6 months.. i'll have a better feel for the whole thing.. right now, all i can say is that yes, it feels a lot different...we don't have any communication issues because we're using everything available from text messaging to video chat to international sim cards (for cell phones). Still experimenting with a lot of the differing aspects, like this is the first time doug's gone for a full 12 day trip...so we really don't know how he'll feel when he gets done later this week or how i'll feel having been left alone for a longer period of time. and we haven't seen a bigger paycheck yet, i'm not really expecting it. doug says "add 20K/yr" and i see 10 of it going to uncle sam right then/there...so i don't see a big increase in paycheck coming. i figure if it comes and we end up with extra cash, it's going onto the mortgage. ![]() luckily, i don't see myself in the same realm as "many women" in this instance..haha i don't necessarily consider seeing "bigger paychecks and less of them" as something dreams are made of. bigger paychecks bring bigger taxes and bigger bills...him being gone longer means we have to work harder on communication...not necessarily dream come true (on my end)...BUT...the fact that he's back in love with aviation, enjoying his layovers, excited about trips again is what makes it worthwhile, to me. we'll see what add'l benefits there will be (for me) down the road. |
