Default Both Pilots: Husband and Wife

Hello to all,

I am wondering if there are any husband and wife full-time pilots out there. My girlfriend and I are both attending Embry-Riddle Prescott as aspiring commercial pilots. We both love to fly and have always wanted to be airline pilots. We have been dating for 2+ years and I would love to marry her. I worry about the QOL down the road though. I know that the first years will probably be the worst always being away from each other. I also know that how much time we get to spend together on a month to month bases will depend on our luck in the scheduling department. She is from DFW and I am from SMF. I like DFW and wouldn’t mind living there. Any suggestions?? Any been there..done that tips?? Thanks

I know of at least two couples in my area where both partners are full time pilots. I'm not close friends with either couple, so I can't give you any particular insight other than it is possible.

There are actually several 'husband and wife's at my airline, both pilots.

One got married after probation, another couple interviewed and were hired together, and a few met while employed.

If you hang around for a while, you'll discover that our fearless leader works for a small southern concern that has recently been prominently featured in the media.

We have a handful of married pilots at Chautauqua/Republic/Shuttle. One couple met while in new hire training together. It can certainly be done.

If you want to work together and in DFW, look at Eagle. They're hiring at a pretty good clip and have a HUGE DFW domicile. XJT and CHQ have IAH bases, and that's a pretty easy commute from DFW.

However, as an alum, I have to say it. What is RULE NUMBER ONE at Riddle? "NEVER MARRY A RIDDLE CHICK!!!"

Kidding!

While were not married both my GF and I fly full time.

I think the key is you both need similiar career aspirations for example both going to the airlines.... That would allow you to have similiar schedules and see each other.

As it stands my GF flys for an airline and i fly 135 so we see each other 4 or 5 days a month....It might work for a while but not longterm.

My neighbors just moved in about 2 years ago, and they both are Comair Captains on the 700. I think they have both been with Comair for about 10-12 years. They have 2 little kids too. They seem like a great family. So yeah, I think it can definitely work.

I had friends who were married and flew corporate as the 2 person crew. It was a great life-style for them.
