Tony, once again, if you find my vocabulary offensive, then, by all means - do what I suggested earlier and ignore my posts.
As for "morally bankrupt" - those are your morals. Not mine. Kindly keep them to yourselves. I'm fine with my morals...and could frankly care less what you think of them.

Since I just gave someone else grief for language about 1/2 hour ago, I'm throwing my oar in the water here as well.
I like that JetCareers is intended to be PG-13, and I have no compunction against speaking up when I see vocab that crosses that boundary in my opinion. I lurk enough at some other sites to know that I don't want to "go there" with their standards of behavior and language. I don't need or want the verbal abuse and crap that people put up with over there. And I won't put up with it. Here I feel free to speak my mind about things that I find objectionable, and I realize that many (or most) may not agree with my position. That's fine. I hope that others feel free to voice opposing opinions. When I've had my say and if I find the atmosphere still not to my liking, I'll go somewhere friendlier.
The one thing that I will not agree with is the requirement to keep my mouth shut on things like this. If someone doesn't agree with me, fine. That's their perogative. If they want to ignore me - fine also. Don't tell me that I have to keep my opinion to myself, though. Not cool. As long as I give my thoughts in a respectful manner, what's the problem? And no, Doug and Kristie have not appointed me the moral police, either. (I have been campaigning for a full-fledged Grammar Goon Squad position, but no luck on that front yet.)
Look, people have the *right* (if any of us really have *rights* on someone else's website) to test the boundaries as much as they want. I think that I (or TonyC or anyone else) should have the right to speak up when we think the boundaries have been crossed. As long as those discussions can be made civilly, great for all involved. When it gets to name calling, then the conversation has ended and abusive behavior has begun, and that is too much. I will continue to speak up when I find behavior or language offensive, and I encourage others to do so as well. I also encourage those that disagree with my position to speak up also. I may very well overstep the boundaries in the other direction on occasion. When someone calls me to task about it we can have a discussion and either come to some sort of an agreement, or not, and hopefully become better friends because of the discussion.
I'm not trying to be "holier-than-anyone" here. I am plenty guilty of many of the behaviors that I currently complain about, and you probably wouldn't have to look real deep into my past posts to find examples of that. I have been spending more time looking over other forums, though, and I am beginning to understand how these viscious circles can spin out of control and take websites right down the tubes. I don't want to see it happen here.
(edit to add:
Oops. Sorry Stan. I took what was intended to be a short reply to you and turned it into a general rant. Most of that is not directed at you, it's just stuff that I've been gnawing on lately, and came to the surface here.
I'm not saying that I agree with TonyC's objections in this thread. In fact, I have some problems with the way he voiced his objections - but all of that is beside the point I wanted to make. The point is that we all should be able to speak up when we disagree with language or behavior, as long as the discussions stay respectful.)

| WOAH... we don't give permission for personal attacks, in fact, we like to stay as far away from them as we can... comeon R2F - was there really a need for that?
remember - there's no equal right on this board cuz you's in doug's living room and nobody but us admins are self appointed VP's/moral police.
so, i'm gonna ask you both to just take a timeout and let this thread turn back into the "congrats dazzler" thread that it is! |

I'm sorry if I've crossed any lines in responding to ready2fly. It's a shame that a congratulatory thread has been hijacked to this point, and for my part in that, I apologize.
Stan,
Don't call me a jackass, and I'll be happy to ignore you. Don't threaten me, and I'll ignore you.

Hey Dazz! Been practicing your sleep deprivation yet?

After all, kids don't come with operating manuals. (Nor can you deactivate them and placard them as inoperative when you want them to be quiet for a while! )

No manual, maybe, but by now you've figured out that they don't break very easily and get by just fine with a lot less maintenance than you originally thought. My sister has a two year old (her fourth son), and her oldest is a freshman in college so she's got plenty of experience behind her. She's real laid back with the baby, and he is one of the mellowest and happiest kids I've ever seen.
(I probably should have remembered this was #2 for you. Oops!)
Anyways, enjoy!

I appreciate your response and you're right - perhaps my respons to Tony were a tad harse in telling him to keep his opinion to his-self.
However, what torqued me was that - in my view - he went out of his way to seek out one of my posts to make a smart-assed comment - and that is something I won't tolerate either.
You know me, Steve. You've been around a while and know that I'm just about as fair as anyone else, but - and this is regardless of Tony's political views - I'm not about to be told what to say and how to say it.
I would expect that the Moderators would have issued a smack-down had my language gone over the edge, but it hasn't IMHO. In fact, it's a LOT more tame than other posts on this site.
I never threatened anyone with anything - let me put that on the record. Insulted - yes. Threatened - never.
That said - My sincerest apologies to Dazzler for bastardizing his thread. I should have let it go a while back.
My bad.
That's the last I'll say about it here. If Tony has something he'd like to say to me, I invite him to P.M. me. Outside of that, I'm through with him in the public forums and I ask he do the same for me.
Stan

Believe it or not he and I started out much the way you two have, well close anyway.
By the way, since the title of this thread is "Baby" - perhaps this is a good time to announce that Mrs_Creepy is due with our second in July!!!
As you knew, we were trying. Well she was trying, I just laid there ha ha...
