Default babysitting rates

If you have kids, what is the going rate, or what do you think is a fare rate for two kids, 2 and 6 mos- from 7a to 7p.

$12/hr plus $2 per additional kid was the norm in seattle a few years back, but a lot think that is high. I know that it used to be $1/hr (or a quarter), but its 2005 now. any ideas?

My wife is babysitting for a fellow pilot. It has been a while and she wants to be fare but not taken advantage of.

thanks

I got paid $1 an hour as a babysitter.

When I was 12 years old in 1987!

$12/hr + $2 extra child doesn't sound out of line to me. Though the only babysitter we've ever used is my mom. We've never really gone out much since the kids, can't afford it.

I remember being paid $0.50/hr as a babysitter.. I was too old by the time the $1 rate came around!

but as an adult, she should be compensated more since she's a lot more knowledgable than a 12 year old...so i'd say she should at least get more than what mcd's is charging per hour!! $12 sounds good to me!

thanks. They originaly agreed on 100/day (8am-5pm) but the days are now 7 to 7, still at $100.
8.33/hr just seems a little low. Thanks again for the input.
