| T-minus 10 days and counting (or less) Here's an update on our situation:
Had a visit w/ the diabetes center every week because of the gestational diabetes ... well on Friday Amy's blood pressure was pretty high ... high enough that the office phoned the hospital. We were told to rest in bed over the weekend to help keep it down.
Monday the blood pressure was high again as was the swelling, so after a visit to our OB's office, we were sent to the hospital for a 24-hour urine and some bloodwork and to check out the baby's heartbeat.
We learned three things from these tests:
1) Our child is stubborn as he [i]or[/] she would not cooperate and literally sent nurses chasing for 5 minutes to get enough of a reading for the records.
2) I married the URINATOR. Doc said the avg woman pees about 2000 cc of urine in a 24-hour period ... Amy filled two-and-a-half jugs amounting to approx. >6000 cc of urine.
3) That everything is fine ... the lab results were really good. The doc is not concerned about any protien in her urine, whatever they checked in the blood looks really good ... baby's heartbeat is perfect ... and mom's blood pressure is doing much better.
So an early induction has been ruled out.
The doctor is contemplating keeping her in the hospital until she delivers naturally since she's doing well ... doesn't want to chance the swelling and high blood pressure if she leaves. While Amy would like to get out ... she wouldn't mind staying in knowing it's for the better. Her and the nurses get along really well ... as she says, "In a situation like this, I'll make friends with anyone/thing that moves."
Tomorrow she's having an ultrasound to get an estimate on the baby's weight as that may play into doc's "big picture."
Not sure how we'll keep this place organized when we have the baby ... she'll obviously be tired from the experience, as will I from running around from work to the hospital, home to clean and take care of any errands, back to the hospital, then home to get some sleep ... and the continuous cycle that it has become. |

| Re: T-minus 10 days and counting (or less) That's so exciting, the last days of anticipation are both dreadful and exhilirating! I missed that this time since Kyla came so early, in a way it was nice, but also made me feel less prepared. I hope she gets her rest, I know the hospital can get super boring, but seriously it's like getting room service and not having to see a dirty house so I'd take advantage!! Keeping my fingers crossed for a smooth sailing, totally pain free, 20 minute labor and delivery!! |

| Re: T-minus 10 days and counting (or less) Glad to hear that everything is looking good. Take it from me, don't worry about the house, it will be a little messy for awhile. You guys need to sleep when the baby sleeps. I tried to be super dad by doing all the chores, and taking care of the little one why Tanya recovered from the c-section. It worked for a 2 days then I crashed.
Hope the bordom doesn't kill you is the hospital. Tanya and I were so ready to get out. Just remember the only breathing technique your wife needs to know is I WANT MY EP I DUR AL.
Good luck
What are you hoping for? Boy or Girl
BTW the last ultrasounds are pretty accurate. Ours estimated the baby at 8lbs 9oz and Emily was born at 8lbs 15oz |

| Re: T-minus 10 days and counting (or less) I was bored silly in the hospital. Baby was in the NICU, and I wanted my computer. I put on makeup, cleaned myself up and put on a good face so I could convince the docs that I was okay to go home. A mere 40 hours after my c/s I was on my way home.
I was SO bored, missed my toddler, and I was tired of strange people coming to poke me and take more of my blood every day.
I hope the delivery goes well and that you have your little one very soon! |

| Re: T-minus 10 days and counting (or less) Well Amy's out of the hospital, but the little one is still inside ... I think the Doc figured she would like to be comfortable at home if she's not having the baby. Ultrasound approximates the baby to be 8-9lbs ...
... I think the doc's ready to get the baby out so Monday we have an appointment which should confirm when the ball's gonna be rolling ... my guess is we'll have the baby 'tween Tue-Thr.
It's still hard to fathom (sp?) that I will have my own child soon |
