Default Can Cargo and family co-exist?

Hi folks. New to JC and I am nosing around to see if anyone is flying cargo and still holding a family together. Its the same old conundrum, and isn't necessarily limited to aviation. I am an A&P and am shooting at least for my CFI.....my wife is a university prof.....and we have 2 kids. Because I don't know any better, I would love to fly cargo (especially after loading tons of planes in the past), but I don't see how I could ever get off the local field as anything more than a CFI - A&P. Of course, staying current in those two ratings alone would be enough to redline what's left of my cerebellum. But I still want to try and crack this equation. Can a guy fly cargo and still be home enough that his family isn't subsidizing his dream? I am told the only thing that is really impossible is dribbling a football. But from reading around JC...family, wife career and cargo just don't mix. Any real life inventor/survivors?

Look for posts by DE727 and/or A300_Capt. I know A300 is married with child, not sure about DE though. They both fly for UPS......

It can exist, my family has friends in NM and they are older, but have kept the family togeather throught the years. The husband flies for Fed Ex. He mostly does International flying.

Good Luck
