So Dana Plato is the white girl I am assuming? I have seen clips of it on things like "Where are they now"....but we didn't watch much tv growing up. I haven't seen much of anything from the 80's and early 90's. All I remember is ALF and Night Court lol.

I LIKE ALF!!! Michelle, if ya want a "where are they now" update on Dana Plato, she's no longer of this world, dearly departed, kickin' up daisey's, deceased, kaput, deader'n a doornail, six feet under........ etc., etc., etc. |

Get a German Shepherd. I just got one a few months back and it was the best investment I've ever made for my relationship, including the engagement ring. The dog protects my fiance while I'm away, and when we talk, it's something that we can share. Kinda like a child, but more functional. NO ONE is going to invade my house while I'm away. If anyone were foolish enough to do this, they would need serious transfusions of blood. Barring that, you could exercise your constitutional right to bear arms. |

I hate dogs, I don't even like cats all that much. Or fish. Not that a fish could stop a robbery And I hate guns about as much as I hate dogs. Maybe I need to take some Kung Fu classes. Thanks for the idea though!

I'm prissy I guess. If they weren't hairy and slobbery and stinky I wouldn't mind them. My SIL has a big lab and it leaves buckets of drool on the floor and it whines and it doesn't poop in a nice little diaper like a kid or a box like a cat and it's always knocking stuff over including kids. At least kids grow up past their "animal" like stages and poop in the toilet and clean up after themselves and stuff. Plus I was severely traumatized by dogs growing up and I probably won't get over without a visit to Dr. Phil so you be happy in your childless world and I'll be happy in my dogless world. [ QUOTE ] Stuck up snooty girl. Would make one of Riddle's finest. [/ QUOTE ] No you got it wrong, prissy as in I like to be clean, not covered in hair or drool, not a tomboy, not an outdoorsy chick, just like to be clean and germ free. (Think Martha.) As for Riddle, I am so not cut out for any college, let alone that one, I wouldn't make it one day. [ QUOTE ] Kids are too much work. A ton of output for little return. [/ QUOTE ] Now see that is JUST how I feel about dogs. Way too much work and what do you get in return? Messy germy slobbery nasty hairy messes, and vet bills, and poop to shovel. Kids give WAY more return than dogs! Unexplainable, unimaginable joy! |

Not all girls like to deal with outdoorsy stuff or slobbering dogs. [ QUOTE ] Now see that is JUST how I feel about dogs. Way too much work and what do you get in return? They're around for too long. They're not self-sufficient or useful in any way for a number of years. Too much to deal with with school, etc. They're far more effort to put out for than a pet would ever be. You only have so much control over how they turn out, etc, etc, etc. I'll stick with a cat or a horse. |

No No No, you've got it all wrong on the Dog! His slobber is a natural anti-microbial. He sheds, so, we vaccuum. He is housetrained, so he never soils the house. He lets us know when it's time to go outside. Can't say enough about the Dog! Great addition to the family!! Much, much better than a child!!! And again, barring that, a .45 would do nicely. |

Mike, you're my kind of guy. I live on a 10 acre farm with 5 horses, have two dogs and a cat that have the run of the house. If I'm not out mending the fence, mowing, or weed eating, it doesn't get done. I've been slobbered on, gotten hair (horse and dog) covering every inch of me (ever body clip a horse? ), had to clean up accidents in the house and clean stalls on a twice-daily basis, called the vet out for a colicking horse at 2am, been stepped on, bitten, kicked, crushed in a trailer, you name it. And I can't fathom having a kid. *shudder* You want to talk about messed up.... Sarah |

[ QUOTE ] Messy germy slobbery nasty hairy messes, and vet bills, and poop to shovel [/ QUOTE ] Well, if your kid has a lot of hair, and you replace "vet" with "doctor," I don't see a whole lot of difference. |

Nah, we don't have any germy slobbery hairy messes or poop to shovel. Dr bills yes, but no poop to shovel. And my kid doesn't smell bad or shed. I'd much rather clean up toy messes than hairy slobber messes. Plus he can look up at me with his big brown eyes and say "wuuuuv you momma". Yesterday he started saying "yee haw" after everything and then laughing at how funny he thinks he is. Can a dog do that?

You have kids Mike? I assume not. If not, then you have no idea what you're missing. And, since you don't even know what you're missing, how can you determine you feelings of having children of your own? Trust me man, there is nothing that can describe what one feels when you have a child of your own. Besides, it's not about YOU anymore, it's about the child. That's the whole point, and it's one of the most amazing experiences in life. You have no idea Mike. [/ QUOTE ] You can't complain about that.. [ QUOTE ] Gotten hair (horse and dog) covering every inch of me (ever body clip a horse? ) [/ QUOTE ] I have clipped many horses - definately a hairy situation. [ QUOTE ] clean stalls on a twice-daily basis [/ QUOTE ] Yeap - don't forget the fields, they need to be cleaned too! [ QUOTE ] called the vet out for a colicking horse at 2am [/ QUOTE ] Umm, yeah done that too!!! Lots of walking around while waiting for the vet as well. [ QUOTE ] been stepped on, bitten, kicked, crushed in a trailer, you name it. [/ QUOTE ] I have definately been bitten, stepped on, but never kicked - that is no fun!! Right now, my horse is all taken care of (had an easy day today), my dog is lying (while drouling) on my bed - and everyone knows with fall all the animals are producing lots of hair - so definately hair everywhere. About poo - not that it bothers me - my gardner picks up after my dog, and my groom does that for my horses! |

[ QUOTE ] You have kids Mike? I assume not. If not, then you have no idea what you're missing. [/ QUOTE ] Finding a babysitter before you go party. Bad dreams in the middle of the night. Being forced to watch horrible plays and recitals and then having to lie and say that they were terrific. Giving up precious beer money in order to budget for braces, broken arms, medicine and school trips. If you get a "talented" child, you can also add on money for summer college camps and other wonderful, EXPENSIVE trips.... You have no idea what you're missing!!! [ QUOTE ] Trust me man, there is nothing that can describe what one feels when you have a child of your own. [/ QUOTE ] These very thoughts run through your mind : Man, I was going to buy that new car next year....and the summer trip to Rio is out of the question. Oh, well, 18 years isn't that long.... [ QUOTE ] Besides, it's not about YOU anymore, it's about the child. [/ QUOTE ] That's the whole problem!!!!! Do you know how complicated it is to pull off a Vegas trip? [ QUOTE ] That's the whole point, and it's one of the most amazing experiences in life. [/ QUOTE ] Right after prostate removal surgery and tumor removal....amazing! Absolutely amazing! Buy a rabbit.... My disclaimer : I do enjoy being a parent. I don't regret having children. That being said, it's not the defining accomplishment in my life. It's a very cool accomplishment - one of the greatest. However, you can't tell if you're a successful parent until they've moved out and went on their own. That pretty much sums it up.... I love our kids, but there is life beyond the parenting thing. I think if you want them...great. If you don't... don't have them. All will be well for everyone. Motherhood doesn't define who I am . It is a part of who I am. I am lots of things. I am very glad to be a mom, but that makes me no better than anyone who doesn't have chldren.

[ QUOTE ] honestly, I still have those same issues... I have a body pillow and 3 cats to keep me company - but I sure would like a dog that could give me a little more protective sense... we have lots of windows in the house and sometimes, that freaks me out too...but after a while, you get used to it.. and before you know it, your the one that changes the lightbulbs, calls the garagedoor repairman and is the fixer-uper for the home etc.... usually the first night doug's gone, i have a hard time sleeping and will sometimes sleep with the lights on - lately, i've been working so hard that i'm "out" by the time I turn on my "sleep music" and my head hits the pillow... [/ QUOTE ] Call me girl I'll come over and keep you safe and your hubby won't have to worry bout any hanky pankie going on when he isn't there....
