| Old Skool | Yup. Construction on new hangers, an ILS glide slope antennae, a taxiway on the west side of the airport (for the new hangers), and a displaced threshold begins later this month. Bulletin in the FBO says there will be two RWY closures. One for a period of 64 hours, the other for a period of 6 hours. ODALS, and PAPI lights will also be relocated during the construction period. Just a heads up, and keep an eye out for the NOTAMs later this month. Total construction time though is slated at 150 days. Runway work should be completed by the end of September. Remaining work will be on hanger placement west of the runway. |

| I had heard a few years back that FFC was getting an ILS. About time...

| Awesome! I remember doing some x-countries into there with my instructor who's from there. He's now at ExpressJet and is probably close to upgrading to capt. if he hasn't already (started back in 2003). He had a house built on a lake down that way, sorry don't remember the name of it. The airport I did my training at while at college, KAUO (Auburn-Opelika Airport) has had the funding for an ILS for a while now. They finally have started installing stuff for it, might even be complete by now. It's a weird sight seeing the approach lights coming in over the top of Glenn Ave. I might just have to head down that way when I get flying again to check it out. |

| Old Skool | Well, I was down there about 3 weeks ago for my instrument ride with Gary Kiteley. I didn't see any construction going on for RWY36. He did mention it to me though that it should be coming by the end of the year. |

| Last time I was down that way, they were clearing the area just south of 36 for the light installation, and even had some of the lighting equiptment installed I thought. ![]() Oh well, I have Gary's "John Hancock" in my logbooks a few times. Seems like a really nice guy. Never had the opportunity to fly with him though. All my cert rides were done with the university's chief pilot and then his signature on the logbook and temp cert. I'll have to take a drive from Snellville down to FFC to see what all is going on down there. |
