Hey guys, Just read on Flight International that the FAA has changed its definition of a comlex aircraft to include "aircraft with FADEC". This is the case of the DA42 Twinstar, (only the ones with G1000, or all of them?). This ultimatly means that the upcoming DA42's for Falcon may be used for comercial and flight instructor trainning. Anyway, thought I should share it with whoever is considering Falcon, I like the idea of doing all my training with Diamond aircraft!!! Any thoughts? Regards from Spain, Alonso

If costs remain competitve, the Diamond aircraft are one of the reasons I am looking into Falcon. Right now they are just a couple thousand away from me not being able to attend there though since they are at my limit on A to Z costs (they run about $10K to $15K more than my other two choices right now when I add in housing and other expenses). Cheaper housing arrangements would help greatly. I'm still excited and hopeful that when I visit in May my expectations are met. If they are and prices don't take a jump on me over the next 9-10 months, I'll be seeing you in September/ October. PS - I encourage all Falcon students and CFI's to take a day and go to the NBAA Annual Convention (www.nbaa.org) since it is in Atlanta in 2007. I'll be there for sure! |

As for the DA42, I am sure they are a nice aircraft, but I think you would be better off in a conventional twin without FADEC. Most places will not have the newest equipment for many years, as a conventional twin will get you there just as good as the newest airplane will all the toys, and for cheaper too. So, I think you should learn on an 'old school' twin. It is not that big of a deal to transition to a FADEC down the road.

The Twinstars (N418TS and N429TS) arrived Falcon Field (KFFC) on 12/14 and are up and flying at Falcon Aviation Academy. Come on down and check them out. Quote:

| Old Skool | I wish I had that information for you. I think the rate of them was going to be within $10 of their Seminole rate. I'd call them up to get the actual one though. Sorry.
