Default Is anyone enrolled in ERAU online?

I am Currently at DCA and am interested in maybe going to ERAU to get my degree. I am looking for some feed back about the on-line program. Can you help? Thanks!

Different strokes for different folks on this one. I love it, but ESF isn't a big fan of it. I had a lot of college classes that transferred, though. One thing I would definately do is plan on taking CLEP tests to get out of some of those boring, core classes. ERAU classes are a bit harder than UVSC, but some people find that good. I personally like a challenge. If you already have your Comm multi, that should cover all of your aviation requirements. I just found out recently (grumble grumble) that unless you have at least a comm multi, all your flight ratings are only "general electives" instead of "aviation area of concentration." So, I THOUGHT I could get my AS with just a Comm SE, but I was wrong. The price is a LOT less than ERAU residential campuses.

Pretty right on post, but I will add that they also have minimum time requirements for their flight certificates. I had all my certs done through Riddle and they only took them as general since I didn't have 1,000 TT (I think that was the requirement for Pro Aero). Since I had already attended Riddle, I only had to do 3 classes, but it was weird the way they had me finish my "Riddle Degree".

Also, make sure you submit your info as soon as possible. It took them almost 6 months of Riddle Run-Around to finally figure out I only needed 3 classes to finish.

Finally finished this last year, by the way. I am looking into a different school for my MBA.

Strange, esp considering you can get a degree on campus with around 300 hours. My friend who is doing the same thing asked about that, and they said they dropped the min hour requirement. ESF said they gave him total credit for his ratings, and he's not at 1,000 TT either. With my luck, I'll have all my classes finished, and then they'll re-instate the hour req.....

It was only three for me, but I already had my info in to the DAB campus. So I guess it took them three months to walk down the hall.

I hope they did drop the hour requirement and hope it all works out for you. I was just surprised at the total Riddle Run-Around BS once again. I'm just happy to have my degree completed and done with.

Also, make sure when you do graduate that you stay on top of them. When I registered for my last class, I sent in the graduation application like the instructions said. I finished my class, waited, and waited. Finally I called them and they said to resubmit the application. I faxed that in, then my advisor told me she found my other application in my folder and it just didn't make its way down the hall for actual graduation. That took an extra 2 months. Glad I wasn't in a rush.

Overall time to finish my 3 remaining classes, including application, etc.: 14 months (Jul 01-Sep02). Actual time in class: 6 months (Jan 02-Jul 02).

Great education, but not sure if its worth it looking back on it. Oh well...

I'm just over halfway through the MAS program online. What might you like to know? Some classes are not so tough, others are quite challenging.

One thing is for sure-I'll be REALLY glad when it's over!

I went through the whole Embry Riddle extended campus/ online classes thing also. It was a real pain in the you know what everytime it come around to sign up for classes. No one seemed to know what I needed to graduate and it also took over a year to find out how many credits the school would give me for flight time. I finally had to make a phone call down to daytona to talk with someone that finally answered that question confidently. The last I checked there was two ways to get your Pro Aero degree. You could take all 120 classroom hours, or take somewhere around 108 credit hours, make a copy of your logbook with 1000 hours tt or I believe it's 500 dual given and they will give you like 12 hours under area of concentration. For the price of going to an extended campus you cannot beat it. Especially if you look at the cost of attending in Daytona or Prescott. But get ready to write a ton of research papers, I think I wrote a paper for every class but five. As I look back on it now I wonder if it was all worth it or should I have stayed at my local university and graduated way ahead of time. Oh well to late now!

Amen to the intensive paper writing. I finally found a class where I don't have to write an 8 page research paper, just three short summaries of aviation legal cases. The way they are doing it now is send in a copy of your license with an affidavit of authenticity. My friend has his private/instr/comm SE/Comm ME with about 350TT. They gave him about 35 credits under area of concentration. I don't have my Comm ME yet, so all of mine are still under "general electives." We'll see what happens to those credits in about two months.

Thanks for all the great help! I have been doing some other research as well. I thin ERAU maybe out of the equation..to many problems and no one seems to know who to talk to. I am considering maybe Utah Valley..I think its called. Any other suggestions?

Yeah, that was a problem I had at first. Once I found out what numbers to call and who to ask for, I programmed them into my cel phone so I wouldn't forget. BTW, just got awarded the DL scholarship of a whopping $179. Too bad I may only have one class left to take, but I need to take TWO classes to keep the money. Riddle Runaround anyone?

Yep. Right now I'm a Comm ME away from my AS in Pro Aero. It's the same track as the BS, just fewer credits. Thanks to credits from a previous university, I'm only 7 classes away from my BS as well.

At the time when I was enrolled, I did not have the 1,000TT to qualify for the Pro Aero requirements either. However, the director did tell me that since I was employed by an airline, I could write a paper and use my work experience to make up for what I lacked in TT. Talk to your center director if you think you may have some work experience that can be applied likewise. Turns out I never did complete it though as I got hired and have been away flying. Now I have way over 1,000 so it became a moot point for me, but maybe some others can use that method for credits.
