Default ERAU DLL Rant

Wish they had told me this when I signed up for this deal, but I just got some irritating news today. My plan was to get my AS through Riddle DDL and go out to MAPD next year. It's only an extra $1000 to get the multi add-on to your commercial from MAPD, so I was going to get my SE and do that. Well, I just found out that anything below a commercial multi in Riddle's eyes is a "general elective.' Huwhat? I asked about a Comm SE, and they said that too was a general elective. Plan blown out of the water since I would need to take FOUR more classes to get my "professional" requirements out of the way. Nice of them to tell me when I joined the program. I guess "all of you flight ratings will count" means they will count as a general elective. I was thinking of doing an internship with either ASA or SWA, but that TOO is a general elective. I guess unless you're in the military or already have your ratings, STAY AWAY.

You mean that if you start with all your ratings, they count for more than Gen Electives, but if you get them while attending, thats all they are? That doesn't make much sense (typical Riddle though).

Looking at my sheet, I had all my ratings when I started the DL program- I got credit for all the Aviation Area of Concentration requirements, plus Phys 201 (Physics Elective), for a total of 36 credits.

Anyways...sorry to hear they screwed you. Join the club!

Oh, you can get your ratings after you start, but they don't count until you get your Multi Comm. That's the whole reasons I was going for the AS instead of the BS (which has a meaning OTHER than Bachelor of Science now). After I ultimately get my ME comm, I should be about 5 or 6 classes away from the BS, so I'm gonna stick with it. I've calmed down and vented to friends at work, so I feel a lot better. Just threw off my whole time table for the next year, but things might work out better this way. Anyone know how many credits they give you for CFI/CFII/MEI, or do they just not count those?
