Default ERAU pilots?

Hey,

Are ERAU pilots trained well enough to acquire a CFI right after graduation? Can they expect to get a job for a regional such as Air Wisconsin or American Eagle right after grad? What is a better path to follow, Regonal pilot, or CFI?

Thanx guys!

CFI, then regional pilot.

Anyone can earn a CFI certificate if they set their mind to it.

Don't expect the ERAU diploma to give you free handouts for regional airline jobs. It won't happen. Having graduated from ERAU versus earning a non-aviation Bachelor's degree at any accredited university won't make any difference.

Most people will recommend CFI'ing. But don't work as a CFI unless you truly want to teach people how to fly.

It's usually not a choice of CFI or regional pilot. Even in today's quick-hiring market, you'll need to do some sort of commercial flying to get that regional job...the most common civilian route is instructing in order to do that. While going to Riddle did not give me my regional job in name alone, the knowledge I gained there did help during interview/training, and I see my instructors and buddies from the university at airports all across the country, in all possible sorts of flying jobs. The contacts definitely come in handy.

Almost everyone I know is able to become a CFII before graduation and can work part-time as an instructor even as a student. Regional airline pilots however, is another question all together, though Riddle has made some deals with a number of carriers to waive the minimum hours for Riddle students and graduates to be able to apply

I know what you are trying to say, but it works another way too.

Don't work as a CFI unless you truly want to LEARN how to fly.
