If you apply to Riddle with a PPL, do you have to take a course to show competency or do you jump straight to the IR.

I know when I was at open house at Daniel Webster College in Nashua, NH, they said that you had to take a series of tests to show competency, and that they were very hard and most people didn't pass them. If you failed, you had to take the courses even though you already had your PPL. Probably to make sure that everyone is learning the same thing. Not sure about ERAU though; perhaps they'd have something on their web site, or you could contact their admissions office.

Yeah, but you can test out of it. I did. Its hard though...the questions are above private-pilot level.

You can start right in with the instrument flight course. You might still have to take AS130 which is basically a class that teaches private level information. You can test out of it however. I just took it and got an easy A.
