I hear they are charging for the plane AND fuel (not just a fuel surcharge) now? Huh??? What's that put the 172 up to /hour? How much is the instructor?

$93 an hour for the 172 dry. The fuel price changes with the current market price (I think with the drop in oil price, the price for fuel is $28 or something like that an hour). And I believe that the instructors are $49 an hour.

That's crazy, in 2000 I was paying $65/hr for those same planes and $40/hr for the CFI. A year later, it was up to $80/hr for the aircraft. Next year, $105. That's when I left. You'd think with the amount of flying they do, it should be CHEAPER to rent there vs. an FBO. Guess not .

That's outrageous! At UND it's $88/hr WET for a 2005 Piper Warrior, $92 for an Avedyne (sp?) glass Warrior and $40/hr for instructor.

Seriously for the area it isn't. ERAU gets you with tuition but their planes really aren't that expensive compared to whats around there. The school I flight instructed at charged $135 for a glass 172 and $45 for instructor plus a 10% fuel surcharge. The school down in New Smyrna that all the riddle kids escape to costs more. And most likely for most courses you'll have to fly more outside of riddle to get your ratings.

I was also just informed that riddle will be getting 16 2007 glass 172s and we will be keeping the the same prices as the steam gauge 172s

Triangle Aviation does have some of the cheapest rates ive seen. The warrior is around 85 and hour and the GLASS cockpit G1000 is 120 an hour. Pretty good if you are cool with training in Leesburg. |

The cool thing about PRC was the simulators cost just as much as an airplane, except it wasn't full motion. GO ERBY DIDDLE!

First of all, the tuition at Embry-Riddle isn't high if you compare it to every other private school in the country. It's the same, if not less, than many private schools around the country. The going rate for the 172 NavIII right now is $119 + $49 for the instructor. The rate at off-campus fbo's ranges from $125-139/hr for the same aircraft. Epic down in EVB charges $113 + $55 for riddle students, but the catch is they do it all part 141. Air America (part 61) is significantly more, but I don't know the exact numbers. ERAU (part 142) = $168/hr dual EPIC (part 141)= $168/hr dual So, for example (for those of you not familiar with the differences between 141 and 142) for instrument you need 50hrs XC if you did it at Epic. At riddle as long as you do the course, which is 37 lessons, there are very few requirements that must be met. I believe it's something like 20hrs sim time. It will cost more to do it off campus, but for some people that doesn't matter. To each his own. ![]() I did my private back home at HEF part 141 using Jeppesen and I loved it, but when you get to IRA and Comm I believe choosing the right path makes a much greater difference. ![]() Oh and the sims are not your typical PCATD's. They are the Frasca 270 degree view curve panel style sims approved by the FAA as FTD's. I'm not saying I like them, but just wanted to put that out there.

I'm getting nailed in the Seminole with around $300/hr WITH CFI if I looked at the numbers correctly.

Air America's rates are currently $122 (G1000) + $28 (Instructor) = $150. You won't find a better deal in the area. By the way, Epic supposedly isn't taking on any American students right now. Also, at Air America the Duchess is $170 + $35 = $205 | |
