Default advice for a new ERAU student

I'm leaving for ERAU (DAB) August 23. I have my PPL w/
multi engine rating (the way, i've been informed, they do it there), so I will start my instrument rating when I get there.
Here is my schedule:

Intermediate Aeronautic TTH 9:45-11:00
Aviation Legislation TTH 8:15-9:30
Aero Science Success TTH 11:15-12:15
English Comp & Lit. MWF 9:15-10:15
Commercial Pilot Flight MWF 13:00-15:15
TTHS 12:45-15:30
College Math for Aviation MWF 8:00-9:00
Meteorology I MWF 10:30-11:30

Is the "Commercial Pilot Flight" my instrument lessons/ground school? Also, I am a little concerned about flying in the afternoon b/c of the storms that are so common in FL. How long does the instrument rating usually take at Riddle? I'm just curious about how everything works down there. Thanks

Default Re: advice for a new ERAU student

Yeah, I THINK they combine IR and Commercial classes. If the aviation legistaltion class is essentially the same one I took on-line, you'll like it. First half is mostly aviation history (pre-Wright Bros-Deregulation with emphasis on air mail and its role in developing the airlines), and then the legal framework of the FAA and NTSB. No specific law cases, just a study of the laws that govern aviation. I think there is some ICAO stuff in there, too.

Math for pilots (aka dummies) is basically upper HS algebra. The meteorology lab is KILLER, though. Lotsa cool computers. The neat gadgets almost made me sad that I had to go from campus to distance learning.
