LOL. When I attended orientation, the head of the AS department (I can't remember his name.....Dan Carroll, I think got up to the podium, and opened with the statement "Did you know that a 747 international captain for United Airlines makes over 300 thousand dollars a year? Welcome to Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University's orientation day. You're making an investment in your future here at the Harvard of the Skies. I'm Dan Caroll, head of the Air Science Department......."

Speaking as a student looking at colleges, that's just plain disgusting.

You'll be hard pressed to find a college that doesn't do that. Good luck!

Don't bother. Really. Believe me when I say this. Don't even pencil it in onto your schedule. It sucks major buttcrack and is a waste of time. This is true for any university but for Riddle it's a requirement....don't go, you won't respect yourself afterwards.

I met a good friend at my college orientation... we sat in the back mocking our orientation leader. The actual orientation was worthless... but making a friend... definitely a worthwhile experience.

That would be the only real reason to go. Some of the people in my orientation group are still good friends now.

The Orientation is free.

I met my boyfriend at orientation - Definatly worth while! We've known each other for almost 5 years now and have been together for 3.5 years straight.

Whatever opportunity comes upon you to network and make friends in your field, even though you're just starting out in college - do it!

Yow, I can't believe Carroll said that. I wonder if I'll hear anything better.
