Default Segrave Aviation

Does anyone know anything about Segrave Aviation? How do they treat their pilots? I'm told that the Hawker crews are 8 days on and 6 days off. Does anyone know if they try to stick to that? I understand sometimes there are unforeseen circumstances that might keep you on the road longer like w/x or m/x issues, but does scheduling normally stick to that schedule? Thanks.

I believe there is a high turnover at Segravy. minitour has a CJ on their certificate, but I don't believe he's an employee. A buddy of mine used to fly a Citation (VII I believe) for them and he quit because of all the BS they were dragging him through.

They're parking airplanes or returning them because the warranty is expiring, they're letting people go that lose currency rather than send them to recurrent, only hiring folks typed and current, they keep you out on the road until they're ready to send you home and if you say boo you can count on just turning in your badge, HR is ridiculous (think "Toby vs Michael" in The Office).

When I was in indoc, they brought on a lear and the crew. They were told they'd be 10/5. The lear captain quit a week into the job...he had been with the owner for quite a while, I'm told. That should tell you all you need to know.

Now, I'm not a Segrave employee and my "bossman" treats me reasonably well (with the exception that he insists on being involved in every PIC decision I make - fuel stops, weight issues, duty issues, legal alternates, etc.) and has us on a pseudo 8/6 schedule.

Oh, and the pay...

I make $30/day less as a light jet captain than they were paying a Hawker 1000 captain. Not that a Hawker 1000 is something huge, but I don't think I'd turn on the APU on that thing for what they're paying...even in this economy.

Be careful. If you're current, they'll probably hire you! But what happens in 6 or 12 months when you're no longer current? I'm due for recurrent in November (grace into December)...I've been packing away every extra penny I could find for the past two months since I found out they've been letting people go that lose currency.

Thanks. They do send people to recurrent because a friend of mine was doing his recurrent at Simuflight in the hawker (he was with a different company) and he had 2 guys in his class who were flying for Segrave.

They also do let folks go that lose currency. It probably depends on how the funds are that month and whether or not they're "retiring" any airframes at that particular time.
