Yeah the Bose headsets break the seals whenever I wear my sunglasses The ones that I built actually use earplug (basicly) to go into the entire ear canal. Great fit, and I have to take them out just to talk to someone because I cant hear them! Here is a picture of them . . . excuse the dirty foam! (I have changed them since this picture)

The short answer to your question is that there is no law or requirement to use TSOA headsets in any aircraft by any crewmember, under any operating rules, whether Part 91, 135 or 121, or under Part 25 or Part 43 or any other FAR. This information was provided by Inspector Bures, the Aviation Safety Inspector (Airworthiness- Avionics) of the FAA Flight Standards District Office (FSDO) in San Antonio, Texas. FAA's TSO program with regard to headsets and microphones is for the purpose of establishing a standard, or benchmark for such equipment, but that the FAA has not mandated nor regulated the use of such equipment.

However, TSO'd equipment can be mandated by a company's operations manual.

FIRST OFFICAL TRIP WITH THE NEW G600 Ok, one word . .WOW!!! The new g600 is a god's send! Great unit, really helps with situational awareness, and gives so much information. We took off, and found ourselves in IMC at about 2500MSL. From there, it was up to FL200 and in IMC the entire time. But with the large display and the synthetic Vision it did not feel at all like we were in the clouds. It was great, great saftey tool. Nice to have the large display of the WX, routing, metars and other goodies on the MFD side of the G600. A few items that suck, the back up altimeter would not stay consistant with the 6g00 my altimeter was not consistant with the G600 so alot of double checking and re-setting the altimeters. The temp probs are not outside static temp, rather cailibrated temperature for ram air heating effects. So our temps dont line up. . . A few more items that rock we had to fly an NDB apporoach into sweetwater, tx (OK we did a GPS overlay) it flew the entire thing like a champ. Our old gyros could not make the turns. So it was great. . . and very smooth!! VERY SMOOTH!! Anyway, great product, we are looking forward to getting to know and use the system. So you guys out there. . . go out and talk your boss's into getting the system!

Do they still have the dirt runway and pool table that doubles as a flight planning room at Sweetwater?

I was in Sweetwater back in the spring. Nice airport but the wind was blowing about a hundred!

I stopped at SWW for fuel when I ferried a 152 from west to east coast. I hadn't planned any particular fuel stops, but as I neared my 2.5 hour "start looking" mark, I saw "Avenger Field" on the sectional. It sounded like a cool place and a cool name to have in my logbook, so I headed that direction. I was really tempted to land on the dirt, just to say I did it, but I had a lousy wheel bearing on one main, so I didn't want to take any chances. I pulled up and parked and old Cooter Brown (I assume it was the same guy) welcomed me. I asked him if they had a flight planning room, and he pointed at the pool table. The dog you mention was over in the corner. I took a leak, fueled up and thought to myself "yeah, I've been here long enough." But at least I have a cool airport name in my logbook. |

| Old Skool | I'm gonna start with trying to get a working Radar and pressurization first.

no working radar or Pressurization??!?! OUCH!!!! What do you fly? Got to have the radar!! No got to have the pressurization so you can "try" to get above some of the wx that the radar that you dont have would pick up! Take the boss in something pressurized and he'll never go back!!! ![]() By the way, today I went down to the hanger, (I was bored) and really just wanted to hang around the plane. So I decided to polish all the chrome on the plane! Spinners (which we do all the time) but the side airstairs, the trime around the door. Then that went into cleaning the wheel whels, which turned into cleaning and shinning the tires and landing gears, which turned into a light waxing of the front of the plane. So it was a day of cleaning . . . actually was a lot of fun, I parked my car in the hanger and turned up the radio and was jamming all day long. Let's see if my capt notices, if not no big deal. . . but I'm sure he will. I figure it is more of an ownership thing for me, and one more reason my capt will be happy he hired me! Everyone is happy! Pride of ownership! Jerry gets to still keep his job!

| Old Skool | Whatever you do, DON'T wax the back before the front. If you run out of wax, the back of the plane will be smoother than the front and in turn will go faster. If this happens, the airplane will tumble end over end and you'll crash.

| Old Skool | Yep. Happened to me one time. I was out a-washin and a-waxin mah flying machine and I got called into action before I finished. After takeoff, I was accelerating through 480 IAS and the airplane abruptly pitched over. Thankfully I was able to save the day with my exceptional avitin' skillz. |
