Just curious if the NJA guys and gals can chime in on whether or not they allow on-the-side flying. Thank you!

I love instructing and would love to fly air ambulance or police reserve air unit helicopters part-time. Totally forgot NJA wasn't under 121, hence the stupid "1000 hour" question. Sorry! | |

There are still time limits. Does NJA fly 135 or a form of 91?

Netjets flys under Parts 91, 91k and 135. I don't do it, but I know of a number of other guys that do other flying on the side. Like nja capt said, as long as its not a competitor and it won't cause you to go over your flight time limits, management seems to be okay about it. |

Most NJA pilots are nowhere near 1000/yr. Most, including myself, are around 400-500/yr. There is plenty of time to do "extra" flying, but there are some other things to consider. After 7 days on the road, the last thing I want is an extra trip. I can also make more flying an extra day for NJA than most contract jobs are willing to pay. I have a wife and family and rather spend the "off" time with them. I also fly SELs for fun occasionally.
