| Junior Member | Seems like the owner is quickly outgrowing the Citation and has spoken of a falcon 50 (like 20 times already) and now it seems hes taken a liking to the Challanger 300. Anyone on one....?

| Old Skool | I've seen a couple and they look pretty sweet. Not a bad price either it seems...around $15 million. Not sure about it's hot and high performance, but the 50 is good in that respect and the 50 is pretty fast airplane too, of course the cabin is smaller. We need more corporate guys/gals on here...

| While the 300 is an impressive performing airplane, do yourself the favor of looking at the new Hawker Horizon ( Hawker 4000 ). I was very impressed with it at NBAA, it is not like any other Hawker product. The 4000 is Raytheon's highest end airplane and therfore gets all the attention it deserves. There are standard things on the 4000 that are only options on the 300, ie: auto throttles. Ask yourselves if you really want the expense of three engines on the 50 if you don't need the take off performance. Another viable option, sans speed, is the new Citation Soverign, excellent take off and climb performance. JDE knows an operator down in TN and can confirm that they have nothing bad to say about it, and the one pilot came out of Gulfstreams. Jim

| Old Skool | I've quickly become a sucker for anything Dassault too...they make great airplanes. Of course if its anything there like it is around here, they'll change their minds by next week.

<off topic> Now if you're after a job with potential 'action', become a firefighter. My neighborhod grocery store is next to our fire station and when those guys come walking in to the produce aisle, they have that slow motion walk, the music starts and all of the soccer moms glare hungrily at them. If you walk in with a pilot uniform, they simply want to bark at you about not getting two bags of pretzels on their last flight to LA and why their frequent flier ticket to HNL costed 250,000 FF miles... Or a UPS driver. Chicks dig the brown polyesther shorts. </off topic> | |

I'm a Challenger guy so I'm going to have to go with the Challenger 300 but it all goes back to what your mission is - it's hard to beat a DA50 if you need the short field performance. If your boss isn't adverse to owning an older airplane - and apparently he isn't if he's looking at straight 50's - you might want to take a look at the Challenger 600. It would be a good domestic airplane and you can find them cheap - add in a kick ass 'makeover' and you'd have a sweet ride for far less than a 300. Jason

| Junior Member | Jason, Yeah while i think that the 300 is a pipe dream for him, the 50 would be more of a reality. Im not sure if hes looking at a 50 or an EX-variant but he has mentioned them and with their high/short/hot performance, they are exactly what we need going out of Jackson, WY especially in the summer. The 650 is fine right now int he winter but even in november we had to run some serious W&B and performance to get out of there for a mission. Im always looking at challangers as there seems to be quite a few options to have once you are in the challanger family for other jobs that might be out there and thats what i like. Thanks for the recommendation though..

| Get the Falcon, having flown both challengers 600-601, do yourself and your owner a big favor. Stay away from challenger products, customer support is horrid, parts no around , they don't seem to want to support their products. Flown both the 50 and the 2000 in the falcon family, the 50 is a hot rod, while a smaller cabin it gets in and out of high and hot with ease. Aspen, Jackson, Driggs, and even Bogata without any problems and has enough range to get you home. The 2000 not quite the preformer in the summer high and hot but its like sitting in your living room. Been though two major inspections on falcons with no major problems, challenger was down an extra 2 weeks waiting on parts. :-(. Only my opnion but the falcons (all except the 10) are real job savers. |

I wish I could fly them, I only get to look at pictures now. Have you flown the new EASy Flight deck on the 50/2000?

| That's kinda wierd, it's not even certified yet. B/CA predictions for final certificatation weren't until the end of the year or later. I guess we'll see.

| [quote=JDE;420786]They're already being delivered...I've seen quite a few around. Nah, not yet. The airplane isn't even certified yet. Raytheon made 1 delivery last year some time when they jumped the gun expecting full certification.
