| Junior Member | Alrighty, I am thinking of going to EMU to pursue my dream of flying. Right now I live in Parma, OH a suburb of cleveland and I visited all the oh schools bg and kent etc....and out of all the schools I seemed to be most impressed with emu. Everyone there seems really nice and the equipment seems pretty impressive also along with being in a bigger airport which I think that this will great experience. I am getting in state tuition with some deal they have worked out with ohio students so thats also nice. Really I am just looking for insight pro's con's etc... any opinions would be appreciated thx james

| Junior Member | the town of ypsilhoweveruspellit is actually the normal college town, its about like 15min from ann arbor which is kinda seedy, and about 45 min from detroit which is prolly one of the worst cities in the us. but as long as you stay near the campus and the airport i think that its a nice little college town....plus their airport is huge with a lot of good ops to work at...im attempting to get a job at a charter service cleaning their airplanes ![]()

| Junior Member | Well I have decided to go to school were I live instead of EMU, except I have an aprt. already leased and they won't let me out of it unless someone takes the lease, its not a sublease but let me know if your interested, you would be rooming with two other aviation students in a three bedroom/three bath apt.

| Senior Member | You might want to check out Western Michigan University in Battle Creek. They have an fleet of new Cirrus SR 20s, maintenence is second to none, and the training is outstanding. I used to instruct there so I am somewhat partial to it. You might want to look into WMU before you make a final decision. Just a suggestion. ![]()

| Junior Member | EMU is flying out of Willow Run. From what I understand they've had a pretty decent program flying newer Cessna 172s, some of them with the G1000. My girlfriend's dad works at the field and said he seems to have noticed they don't do as much operations though lately... not just this summer but last academic year as well. As for the campus it's not exactly the place I would wanna be. My gf goes to school there and so I've spent alot of time on the campus and it's pretty ghetto. On the tours they only show you their few new buildings to make you wanna go there. The other big thing is the scandal they've got going on over there right now. The president was just recently fired after the administration covered up a girl's death in the dorms. They said she died of natural causes and then about 2 months later everyone (including the girls family) found out for the first time that she was raped and killed. That doesn't speak very highly of the administration at that school if you ask me. |
