| I just started working at SUNY Farmingdale...oh wait Farmingdale State University of New York...last month. I was most surprised about the place compared to what I had heard about the place from yesteryear. Like any flight school or university flight program FSU has its perks and its pitfalls. However much has improved compared to a few years ago. The planes are new and well maintained, the backlogs in scheduling that plagued the program are 99% gone, and the instructors are very knowledgeable and friendly. If you the student are ambitious and are willing to study you shouldn't have any problem. As for aspects that could be improved, I would like to see better simulators and I think the ground school classes up on the university campus could be a bit more effective (I hear from various students that the ground is basically taught straight out of the book). I'll say though what I tell all students in flight training...it is what you make it. If you have the drive and are willing to put in the effort then the flight training should be a non-event. If you have any questions that I havent answered let me know. Will |
