Hi . I would like to talk to any students that completed the MAPD program and either did not get the interview or did not make it through the interview. I understand the program is 19 months and $80,000(everything included) You get an associates degree and about 300 hrs on Barons, bonanzas and the CRJ FTD. |

I know it's not what you want to hear but save your money, get your CFI, build time, and apply to a WHOLE BUNCH of regionals rather than just Mesa which really doesn't have a good reputation for being a pilot friendly company. But hey I guess it's easier to drop the coin and hope for the best rather than work for it.

Don't spend 80k for 300hrs (of which about 15 is multi) simply to be at the mercy of mesa. It's just not worth it especially considering that 80k doesn't include CFI. Those that fail the interview do so for having a bad attitude, sense of entitlement, or for something on their record. |

Or if Mesa has it's fill of people for the time being......I've known a fair amount of ab initio people, PACE people AND MAPD Instructors that pony up a butt load of money and haven't gotten a job...even those that were humble, educated, experienced and had a clean record.... Get your CFI and apply at a bunch of regionals...nothing worse than spending 80K (after paying for stuff outside of the program) and only having 300 flight hours and 40 hours in a CRJ sim that is not even FSDO certified, so you can't technically log it.....

I think the ASU program is different, where their program includes getting your CFI as part of the package...but I'm not sure. Maybe someone from down there can chime in. There are better and cheaper ways to do it, but the FMN program certainly is a quick way to go. What gets me is there was a PACE'er on this forum complaining about 2+ year upgrade times! WTF? You've got an airline job at 200 hours and you're pissed you have to wait 2-3 years to upgrade...? Stop spreading rumors please, ~wheelsup Edit: most of it deleted because it didn't matter.. I'm wondering why you considered flying boxes in a Shorts rather than go to Mesa? Is it really that bad there?

Flying the shorts just would've been cool! Also, at the time I interviewed, mesa was not hiring and there was a big backlog in their hiring pool, so I was simply expanding my options down the road. Plus, the upgrade for me would've been extremely quick (at ACC). The thing that ultimately turned me off about it was that they were closing their east bases and moving west, and I was trying to go east. That sealed the deal... ~wheelsup
