hello, I have a few questions about Mesa program at ASU. if anyone is in it how do you feel about it, any qestiosn or comments, are the only itnernships aviaible limited to the mesa network?? how will mesa e in the next 4-5 year run?? how many people in ASU are in the mesa program and how many were hired?? can you work as a CFI and be a student at ASU MESA? do they meaintain their planes well?? -thank you

Just go to regular ASU. ASU Mesa is out at the end of Chandler Blvd about.... 15-20 miles from campus... Go to regular ASU, meet hot undergrads, do your flight training on the side and work as a CFI ASAP. Then you won't be like me realizing that "specializing" in aviation is worth two things: Jack and something else... Don't get to your junior year in college to come to the realization, "I should've gone to ____". The flying will be a lot more fun out in the real world (without all the structure) and despite what they say, the university program is 0% better than the standard FBO route. Sure, some might have reduced minimums for certain airlines, but with XJT hiring at 600/100, who needs them?

Xjt really isn't hiring anyone off the street w/ 600 and 100. I guarantee anyone who sends in their stuff right now with those hours won't be getting a call anytime soon. I flew w/ the director of flight ops recently (by chance) and he said they were only interested in taking aps from 121/135 guys.

I'm a junior in the program and a flight instructor so maybe I can answer some of your questions.

Internships are extremely easy to get at mesa corporate. They'll pretty much give them to anyone including freshman, $6/hr + flight benefits.

Mesa in 4-5 years?.. No idea.

There's approx 120 students in the program. Each freshman class is about 60 students with only about 12 graduates per year. Most people don't finish for whatever reason.

At ASU everyone that has chosen to go to mesa has been hired, 100%. About 25% of our graduates go to a different regional. We had two go to sky west a few months ago.

Instructor slots are competitive. Basically if you're one of the top 4-5 students in your class and have a good reputation you'll get hired.

We have a pretty small fleet. About 10 warriors, 4 bonanzas, and a baron. The bonanzas and baron are fairly old but are maintained well. The warriors are mostly all new.

Agree and disagree. I live at the main campus so I still live the college life when I dont have 0445 wake-ups. On average, training here is better than that at the local FBO's. "Real World" depends on your definition. If "real world" is operating in an airline environment you'll be better off here, if "real world" is short fields into dirt strips we'd probably get our asses kicked.

That said I'm not sure I would recommend any collegiate flight program. The degree is worthless and the FBO route is cheaper. I agree with Chris; Major in something worthwhile and flight instruct at the FBO you got your ratings/certs from. We'll all end up in the same place anyway......CRJ captains for life....JK....or not.

Agree wholeheartedly, that was the spirit of my first post. Bridge programs don't mean *that* much (an extra 6 months of flight instructing maybe?) and you'll have much more fun having "school" separate from "work". I really honestly can't say that enough. From someone who is regretting not doing so to a potential student... Get a degree in something else, you won't regret it (and hey, you might be able to afford a plane with your law/medicine degree and hire one of us to fly for ya )

Many of my friends are on that site. My eyes were just about: when I saw a few of them

I went to school with 131 and 86... Tried to get on 110's best friend and my friend dated 113. It's kind of creepy, actually. I'm keeping tabs of which ones I know though

My friend at ASU's AIM profile was, "Does it make me creepy if I sit at the palm walk and watch all the girls go by? What if I touch them? Follow them home?"

ASU is right up there with USC in the "hot girls" category. Too bad its academics make it mehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

Oh yeah!! So, can someone explain to me why there are so many good looking girls in Arizona? Must be the heat or something?!? I'd rather it be 120 than -30.

And AZ girls are so thin because it's always nice weather so they can work out 12 months a year. Girls in states with "Seasons" get fat in the winter and only have enough time to work it off during spring/summer.

It's cold enough here in Lafayette, I can only imagine what it'd be like there. I really feel bad for you (although I wish Purdue had a hockey team, let alone a nice hockey arena)
