Default Business/Flying

After having considered ERAU's Flight program as the only thing that'll get me hired as a pilot , I thought about it, talked to people on jetcareers,
(thanks Mike McC, Don, Marilyn ) , and decided to major in Aviation Business Administration at ERAU (since a business is business I'll be able to work in other industries aswell) and use this as my fallback.

I'll get my flight licenses either at a local FBO or ATP, havnt decided that one yet.

What do you think of this route?
I'll kee you updated.

Why waste your money on a private school. Got to a state school with a good business program and you'll be much better off.

I know where I go we have a great business school in conjunction with aviation if you choose to do so.

Two reasons :
1.) I've visited ERAU and liked it. I like being in an all aviation school despite of the down sides (no girls etc.)

2.)I'm an international student from germany and I've set up and planned everything..i really dont feel like planning everything a second time. I might transfer OUT of ERAU if i dont like it .

Easier and cheaper to do the flying elsewhere, like you're planning.

But on the "setting up and planning" thing, remember, be flexible at all times.

Right Mike, I'll keep it in mind. I just want to give ERAU a fair chance

Just make sure to have some kind of backup plan. You never know when you could lose your medical.

Not to toot my alma mater's horn but, Delta State University Aviation program is one of the most overlooked programs in the nation. In 2000 it was voted by Newsweek in the "top ten best value schools" in the nation. Its tuition is cheap, its quality of education is great, and it's flight training is cheap and good. It is a smaller program though. There is about 20 aircraft about 11 or 15 CFI's training between 80 and 100 students. All pilots (including freshman student pilots) begin training about 2 weeks after the semester begins in contrast to waits as long as a semester to a year at some other Universities. Unlike at some other Universities, Delta State offers Commercial Aviation as a business degree, not a science degree. There is also a great Aviation management and Masters program. I'm sure there are many other smaller programs that are way chaper than these bigger programs. A degree is a degree is a degree is a degree in this business, aviation or non-aviation.

I will second this. While I did not attend Delta State for the Aviaiton program, I did attend some MBA classes there. Its a fun little town, great campus, and even a golf course for those who want. 120 miles up 61 to Memphis (faster now then when I lived there, casino just up the road in Tunica). Overall a nice school, and the professors I had were top notch.
