| I learned how to trim for best glide without being able to look up from a book or placard what it is and without using the full nose up trim method. Just trim so that the chord line is level with the horizon when you look out at the wing. Tried it in two airplanes on the checkride and both times it had me within 2 kts of best glide. Hadn't heard of that trick before the ride. It was a really good ride. He really had me dig into the regs quite a bit. If any of you get asked in the future it IS possible for a Comm. Helicopter pilot to get a Comm. Airplane Add-On in just 53 hours. I kept coming up with 70 hrs. at first but after some proding that it was in there I eventually found the PIC regs and endorsements that would let someone adding a rating log PIC while under supervision. Those were the two areas that kinda stumped me.

| Weather was low ceilings, haze, pockets of rain and lots of wind. Ceiling was at 6000' Broken and wind 15 gusting to 22 straight down the runway. Could have been worse I guess. We were still able to fly.

| About to take the CFI initial in Boise. Probably in the next month. Would like some additional information about your experience with the examiner's approach. Thanks. |
